It's been a few months now and I was wondering if anyone in the know or anyone with photo evidence has info on how the field is looking now after this season? If there any plans in the works for the field and what they are?

I hope they do something before one of our players get hurt on it.

I hope it's better than the past two years. Late in the season it looked like Updyke was the field turf consultant.

I think after the debacle this past season the consensus was that resodding was contributing to the problem.

I was on campus Monday afternoon and glanced in through one of the gates. The field looked nice from the view I had but I honestly didn't think to look very closely. It didn't look like they had been working on it. I'm not much help.

I doubt they're doing too much to it with the O&W game coming up. After that they'll re-do it.

I'll take it!

I was there just this past weekend and when I looked through the gates, it looked like it hadn't been touched since last fall. To be honest, it reminded me of the Woodstock photos from 69'.

So which is it?

The guy directly responsible is Darren Seybold. I don't know how his name hasn't been drug into all of this yet. He took over for Bobby Campbell after he retired and the football field hasn't looked the same since. He came in and talked a big game about how great his fields looked at MS St., but the last few years he has completely tore the football field up and laid new sod each year (I currently have the 2013 sod in my front yard). Last year the field conditions became so bad that the outlets covering UT games would do in-game stories about it. I would think that if that continues again this year then surely we could find someone else. It's getting ridiculous.

Not to be a knee-jerker. But when you have One extremely important job and you utterly blow it, then it's time to help him find his true calling and purpose in life.

I'm sure there are a lot of people at fault for the field being like this, but if it's ever going to recover, then the football teams needs to give it an entire offseason to grow. None of this painting the field for recruits every weekend, late night runs in Neyland, or scrimmaging in Neyland for spring practices stuff (besides the orange and white game).

There comes a certain point when you've just gotta let nature do it's thing.

That type of grass doesn't grow in the winter so it wouldn't really matter at this date. IMO, they should sprig it and it will be ready by Sept.

Sodding isn't working!
