will obama cut our deficet in half in four years ? no!

i would venture to say neither are o.k. but a neccessary evil of their chosen professions.

one for kiff <-------------- :-(

one for obama <----------- :-(

Nice ethical standards you've got there. That must come in handy when it's time to do your taxes or lie to your wife.

There's nothing intrinsic in being a college football coach that means you have to deliberately mislead high school kids. It's like any other job; you can either lie to people and treat them as disposable in order to get ahead, or you can conduct your business with honor. If lying is an excusable "evil of [the coaching] profession" because it helps them succeed, then it must be an excusable evil in every profession.

The fact that you can so easily justify lying to a 17-year-old kid because it helps your own recruiting -- and not even merely justify it, but actually regard Kiffin as having failed because he didn't mislead the kid enough to keep him at UT -- does not speak well about your ethical standards. I would have expected someone who thinks he's James Bond to have a more highly developed sense of honor than that.

youll have to read page 4 for your answer to obama.

they both lack experience, which is a recipe for disaster.

the football team will survive, not much stress there.

the country on the other hand is teetering on self destruction (study the bankruptcy of the u.s.s.r.)

Thanks for the advice, but I have probably been educated in history and polictical science enough to suffice. And if you were, then you would recognize how completely different the two situations are. But that is for another time and place.

What we are here to discuss is the coach at UT. His "lack" of experience is purely subjective. I say he has more than enough experience to qualify. I'm guessing the entire reason you are big on experience is the value of learning from past mistakes. Why else would you value it? Kiffin has had past success and failure, both of which he can learn from. He has coached at a level that the majority of the coaches in the SEC may still dream about while being 20-30 years his elder.

I guess I see the presidential and UT jobs the same way. Both were occupied by inadequate, unintelligent, and lackluster people that were surrounded by many with the same qualities that mirrored thier boss's. They were then replaced by intelligent, capable, and ambitious young men that represent the new generation and philosophies of the country.

fyp---capable is still up for debate.

the arms race bankrupted russia.unmonitored corporate greed bankrupted the usa.both instances fall back on the government.to much govt oversight for russia and not enough govt oversight for us.

back to football:

kiffin has all the potential in the world to suceed except for one major flaw.he cant coach a lick :p

his plan is to run the offense 100%,qb coach reaves ,wilson on recvrs hes never coached this position ,his lackey from the raiders cregg ,and please dont forget he said he would call his own plays unless he truly trusted his oc

if you fail to see this guy is about me-me-me then your just not paying attention.now dont get me wrong,he truly believes he is the next coming of the ole ball coach.wish he was,hes not and you will see soon enough.

you must at least recognize the simularities of oakland and ut.he wanted to bring his dad to oakland,he succeeded in bringing his dad to ut.lane does not want to be bothered w/ the defense.he wants to focus solely on the offense.me-me-me-my way-me-me-me

this is our best shot for success :crossfingers:

and please dont even get me started on obama, our new made for (lifetime) tv president.i think harpo productions has already secured the movie rights.

so you think boyd is just a crappy player, highly overrated by all the recruiting services. or maybe you just blindly follow the brief evaluation of your new head coach.a pure spot on instant talent evaluator (bs)

dont bother answering,i already know :)

At this point it doesn't matter whether Boyd is any good or not. College coaches exert a dictatorial power over the careers of their players, so the only opinion that matters is Kiffin's. The only thing we can evaluate at this point is: once Kiffin decided that he didn't like Boyd as a QB, how did he handle it? And the answer: in an industry in which high school kids are routinely lied to, misled, bribed, flattered, strongarmed, extorted, and seduced, all for the glory of Coach and College, Kiffin treated Boyd like a man and gave him the straight deal. Clearly that's not important to you, but where I come from that's an important virtue.

If Boyd turns out to be a superstar QB and we haven't found our own by then, then we can lay that at the feet of Lane Kiffin the Talent Evaluator. (And likewise, if he's a huge bust, then that's to Kiffin the Talent Evaluator's credit.) But we can't evaluate that yet. All we can evaluate so far is Lane Kiffin the Man, and in this instance at least he looks pretty good.

Nothing here rebukes the experience argument I made.

And BTW, a head coach is supposed to be me-me-me-my way. He would not be a head coach if things weren't done his way. You are just plain reaching.

P.S. If you think the USSR situation boils down to just an arms race banruptcy then you are just wanting to give the US entirely too much credit for thier downfall. There is alot more to it than that. Too much area to control, too many different ethnic and religious regions to control, too much underhanded political dealings (due to politicians trying to take advantage of the situation before the inevitable fall)...... and much much more.
