Who cares?

Can we get a Peyton Manning forum?

So many bandwagon fans that follow him from team to team and plenty more who care about his every move.

Many of us don't care about his NFL success and I'm tired of sifting through 50 new threads about him every day. He's spent his career as a rival of the Titans and he was flat our terrible in the Super Bowl, period. I love him as a Vol but I don't care about him as a pro. You get railroaded here for mentioning Fulmer and Pearl but both were here longer than Peyton. People pick and choose which former Vols are allowed to be brought up. He's no more a Vol than Fulmer or even Pearl. They were here longer but people will chime in with "Why is this in the football/basketball forum, they're not here anymore". Okay?

Like I said... I love Peyton the Vol but I don't care all that much about his pro career. Just like many here don't care about Fulmer and Pearl now. You bring up certain Vols from the past and people will say "they're gone, what does this have to do with the Vols?". Not Peyton... the same guy who chose not to come back to Tennessee(for the Titans) and yet people still act as if his accomplishments with the Colts/Broncos = Vols accomplishments. Move on.

A Peyton Manning forum is a great idea. As for your opinion,it's like a rear end. Everybody's got one.
I'm a fan of his because of his attitude and the way he handles himself on and off the field. I suppose you are a fan of the players that make a good play on the field and break out in some chicken dance that makes themselves look ignorant. Ol Manning though just runs to the sideline and starts studying again.
I guess you've figured out by now that I'm a Manning fan and I'll always be one, even when he retires and starts doing hair club for men or weight watchers commercials like many previous quarterbacks.

I think you should do a poll just to find out. Peyton means a lot more to the UT program than just being a former player.

Can't believe some people are still butthurt Peyton didn't go to the titans. UT and the titans are in no way related, on the other hand Peyton and UT very much are. So if I as a Vols fan want to follow the career and cheer for one of the greatest to ever play for UT why should anyone have a problem with that?

Conversely, if I as a Vols fan choose not to follow the career of a giant stat machine that can't produce marquee wins in college or the pros, why should anyone have a problem with that?

I wouldn't have a problem with that, actually I wouldn't even care. But this poster seems to have a problem with people supporting Peyton and also seemed to think that because someone played for UT that means have to play for the titans or they aren't a VFL when the two are in no way related other than they are in the same state.

Reading is a funny thing. You read his post and choose to think he believes not playing for the Titans=Not A V4L. I read his post and see the Titans logo on his profile and see him saying "I'm a Titans fan, why should I care about him since he chose not to play for the Titans?"

Take me, had Peyton gone to the Redskins, I would care infinitely more about his success than I do now. Peyton owns a lot of records and is a nice guy, but he's not the end all, be all of Tennessee Football. Why not the same love for Jason Witten? Super class act, V4L, on the Mt Rushmore of TEs, huge donor to charity and, he's got Peyton beat with the fact that he's a TN boy.

Sb win doesn't count? AFC champ over NE doesn't count? Who put you in charge of what is a big win or not?
As far as judging Sherman, who cares. You act like an idiot, you are deemed an idiot. Obviously he isn't, but whose fault is it that he acted that way and was judged? Only his own.

So you even dislike his praising Peyton for being a class act? OK, I get it, look for cause to be spiteful and hold onto it indefinitely. If it works for you, keep it. :hi:

I only have a problem when people say somebody can't win a big game when he just beat Belicheck, Brady and the Pats two weeks ago for an AFC championship and has a SB ring.
Have any opinion you want, but at least make it an informed one.

Let's just make **** up while we are here woodsman. I didn't say anything about his classy comments regarding Peyton.
We are talking about reactions to his actions after the SF game. If you don't want someone to react and assume, don't act in a way that opens the door. Period. Has nothing to do with his post SB comments.
For example, you appear to be a drama queen right now and can't follow the debate, so you just throw stuff out and hope it sticks, like "look for cause to be spiteful and hold onto it". From your statement above, I'll assume you can't read or debate objectively and can't consider each situation for what it is.
I don't spite Sherman at all. He still made an ass out of himself and made excuses at the time. It also came and went and he handled himself like a man after the SB win.
If you want to call that spite, go ahead. You don't know wtf you are talking about anyway.

The reason that people act as if his accomplishments with the Colts/Broncos = Vol accomplisments is because many times when they speak of him, they bring up his having played for TN - and he gladly reps the program. For the last 10 years we Vol fans have had little else to really cling to and Peyton represents the glory days of UT football - ones that we have sorely missed for many, many years. So in many ways, rooting for Peyton is a proxy for our burning desire for UT to return to national relevance.

Hopefully (and I firmly/desperately believe), CBJ will restore our program and lead us to even greater glory and in years to come this past 8 years will be seen as a dark but faded nightmare and we will be able to be as proud of the team on the field as our VFLs. Until then, please STFU.

Yet oddly, I, the OP, started this thread for that specific purpose. So by all means continue your making **** up, you seem good at that.

Oh, you steered the boat into another river. Which is a means of making **** up.

"Instant dislike and judging people" being the vn way was OP's first post, for clarification from his other trash on here.

That was a reference to his SB comments? Why would anyone spite or dislike him for those comments? Stupidity at best.
You were referring to his actions after the NFC game, reactions, and judgemental fans while asking where they are now after his comments about a "volgod". Sounds like you are the only butthurt one here and don't have the mental capacity or stability to take each event by itself.

Try reading the Sherman threads and you might catch up on why my thread came into existence.

So sorry a Goliath beetle crawled up your bung hole this morning. Take three laxative tablets and wait a bit, relief will come, I promise. And since you're conflict hunting, I hereby grant you this thread all to your self. I got no interest in playing tit for tat right now. You really should your tits covered anyway. Consider the thread a belated Christmas gift. :hi:

If you don't want commentary or posts, don't start a callout thread, especially when you are offbase and incapable of differentiating the two events, how people react to each one, and the reasons why.

Congrats, you beat the least talented Pats team this century and beat up on a wildly overrated AFC. That's an accomplishment?

who is you? Unfortunately, I'm a Titans fan.
You just made my point though. Why you feel that you get to choose which games you think are big games or not is amusing to me. That's all. I guess our '98 NC doesn't mean anything because FSU was playing a 3rd string qb.

Sherman's act is actually brilliant. He gets an x percentage of his jersey sales. Being the NFL bad boy produces instant jersey sales. This is just marketing to the nth degree.

Peyton wouldn't have been in the SB with the Titans.
