Learning here so I'm hoping this doesn't come across as antagonistic. What makes their right vs the right of someone wanting quiet at that time. Is it a Dearborn policy that has established the "right"? What would be the difference between this and calling the cops on a loud neighbor? Thanks for your time.As is their right. It's a decision made by the people in Dearborn. It doesn't affect you or me. Why does it bother you?
If people there want it and there's no objection from residents, why not?Learning here so I'm hoping this doesn't come across as antagonistic. You are being willfully obtuse. It's common for men in Islamic countries to escape justice under law for rape in these situations because the woman shares the greater blame for being an object of lust, have to meet an almost impossible burden of proof and or have the possibility of counter charges file against them, are ostracized by their friends and family completely if they admit they were raped. The mindset that sexual assault victims are responsible for their own assaults by the way they dress, act etc, is relatively common in conservative Christian churches and organizations as well; it's not restricted to Islam.

Whispering "look at how she dresses/acts, she invited that" is so different than the above......... its honestly just pathetic.
I didn't attempt to peg this solely on Islam. It's common for men in India to escape justice under the law as well, is Hinduism to blame?
Your attempt to peg this as solely a problem with Islam as a religion isn't grounded by reality, when even in our own predominantly christian country 66-75% of sexual assaults go unreported because 'fear of revictimization, shame, lack of belief, and concern about how the allegations will be handled by the justice system'.
