I didn't mean to besmirch all Southern Baptists. I have quite a few as friends. She just had a lot of issues that may or may not have been a result of church dogma.

No problem I'm used to being lumped into the Southern Baptist stereotype. Some believe it is a sin to dance so I understand where you're coming from. I was always in the "bad" crowd growing up that wasn't at church 24/7 and didn't sport WWJD gear.

I'm Southern Baptist too . . . I'm part of that faction that sits over to the side and occasionally rolls my eyes.

He makes a good point though. Not sharing religious views with the person you are about to marry is a recipe for disaster.

:) I can relate to that! Lots of good people but sometimes all I can do is pull this  or this:no:

Couldn't agree more! It's even harder to find one that looks good, has a personality, is a christian and isn't weird about it.

It's amazing to me I grew up in a church went every sunday morning, sunday nite, wed. nite. i had some friends who were the same way. once we hit h.s. these females were banging everything in sight. didn't bother them at all, come in to church sun morning like everything is good. i couldn't do that. kept my V card til i was n college. once i started crackin was when i got out of church. couldn't go back while i was crackin, felt bad about it.

I am the same way, couldn't understand how people did that. Luckily for me the only person I have "cracked" is my soon to be fiance and same for her so I'm happy about that. Not proud we didn't hold off but happy still.

Jesus and i know where we stand.

being a lapse Catholic is so much more fun that any other religion. anything goes.

i figure once i find Mrs. Doozer and settle down and have kids, i'll start going to church. but until then, i don't see the point.

and i definately wasn't trying to bring any other faith down, just in case anybody was offended.

I agree. Which is why I married within the faith. Marriage is hard enough without having to argue about religion, etc.

Also agree with you on this point. Not really in a rush to go back to the synagogue until there are little HotlantaVols running around. Being affiliated with anything these days (churches, gym memberships, etc) is expensive!

Well guys, sorry to disappoint, but she's married now. According to my googling, she met her husband at an FCA meeting. And here's the part I rather interesting about the guy's proposal:

"He brought out this large bowl and a pitcher of water. He began washing my feet as Jesus washed his disciples feet. He kept talking about how he wanted to serve me for the rest of my life. He told me he loved me and he had never told anybody that before. I was crying and he asked, is that a yes. I said yes, yes."

For the Christian posters on this board, is this a common thing to do during a marriage proposal? Or is it common to certain denominations? Or is it simply uncommon?

never heard of that before, but I can tell you from experience that a feet washing is one of the most humbling experiences ever and not for the person doing the washing, but for the person who has to receive that profound act of service

I found in my lone experience with a "Jesus Freak", it is better for you to also be a "Jesus Freak" for it to really work.

I am not.

I am an absolute, dyed in the wool Jesus Freak. Im actually a little freaked because Im preaching my first Easter message this year.

How can someone with so much faith be so negative about the football team? :)

I can think of several "profound acts of service" lovely women have performed for me over the years. None of them involve my feet.
