Very good observation. It is just like the Paul Slimebaum show and the same type of format and regular callers that love to show how deplorable they can be in order to just hear themselves rant and rave about things they know nothing about. Same could be said about some of the clueless posters on this forum. I realize everyone is entitled to their oppinions but at least please try to get your facts straight.

I totally support CBJ for what he says and for making Tennessee football great and better each year he has been here.

Yes the media are stupid. This election year should have told you that.

Its not your fault per se. But it does show your stupidity if you really thought this was that big of a deal as the media is portraying it to be. Its the same stupidity as when some fans took the "best staff in America" speak literally. I mean, geez come on. This board isnt full of high school liberals. So what the entire sports world is laughing? What does that matter?

Butch didnt botch the season. The 2016 Tennessee Vols botched the season. People like you and others who say things like "Butch botched the season" and "Peyton never beat Florida" just show that stupidity even more. Football is a TEAM sport that includes coaching and player execution. Your opinion is noted. And my opinion is I had no problem with what Butch said.

That's funny, because I hear that we as bad non true fans can negatively impact recruiting by what we say on here, yet Butch opens his mouth and puts his foot in it all the time and you guys swoon.


Just about every sports outlet is mocking Butch Jones. They mocked him last year.

Every other college is using this against Butch.


But let's focus on the negative fans...

I don't care what you or the media think about the coach speak. The players love Butch an play their hearts out for their team. A culture Butch built based on brick by brick. Butch is a master at motivation and communicating with his team. You probably can't lead a dog to a stake dinner.

He motivated the mighty Vols after a bye week against a high school quarterback

He motivated one of his best players to actually leave

Man, that Butch is a winner. At life.

Hell, he's probably only good enough to be a co-co-co champion at life. Just like the big east.

This state of the football program, and the athletic dept management for that matter were beyond description when he took over, so there was a time his cliche ridden 12 step program rap was needed, and it had positive results. Somewhere along the line CBJ thought the wounds were healed and moved on with his vision of building a football team. But I think the program is still jacked up from the chancellor on down, mind set of the whole university just feels wrong. I'm kind of worried he doesn't know what wrong to stop the bleeding. I don't think he deserves a lot of the piling on thats going on, but when programs struggle and fail expectations punishment is the order of the day.

I cannot recall saying that about fans negative attitudes can impact recruiting. I think thats a load of BS.

As far as your other points here, I ask again, so what? Whats the big deal about it? Why does Butch's comments have you guys panties in such a wad?

I quit listening to the post game and weekly press conferences half way through last season. If you've listened to one of Butch's conferences one time, you've literally heard them all!

Excellent post. The media is one of the worst institutions in the USA today. I heard him say this and you are correct, he was not comparing winning any kind of championship with winning in life.

Winning in life is far more important than winning the SEC East.

Butch was just trying to spin it...he'd be better saying "the on some levels the season has been disappointing in regards to winning the East, but we still have a lot to play for..." or take some lessons from Belichick and say nothing at all.

anybody see anything about maybe going to a sugar bowl? or winning 8 games? or going to a bowl?

i've said it already, but if you don't think it's a big deal, fine, i wish i agreed with you. he represents my university, and i think it's fair to expect him to do so in a manner that doesn't embarrass it, well intended as his comments may be, he missed it again.

Judging from what I see from recruits these days, those 144 characters are a majority of what they see and put a lot of stake in. This is all Butch's fault for refusing to acknowledge anything negative. These Champions of Life that he refers to are going to have something negative happen one day in life and it will have to be dealt with. His fairy tale land of everything is positive needs to go away.
