94.9 in Nashville has a morning show, A to Z Sports, hosted by Austin Stanley and Zach Bingham.

Well, on the drive in they had a long segment about 2 specific players and their supposed injuries.

They had callers to call in and rate on a scale of 1 to 10 which player's (North for Tennessee and Duncan for Vandie) "season ending injury" was more of a blow to their respective team and team's season.

Here is the problem.....Although they threw in the "what if" and "if reports are true" in regards to North's supposed injury, they continually and repeatedly went on as if he were already ruled out for the entire season.

I thought it was really done in poor taste was was pretty petty and almost sickening behavior.

I generally like their show and it is certainly more entertaining than Stillman and Callahan was. But, I just had to turn it off. I was like wtf???? We don't even know the slightest news about North yet (this morning)

I hope that they publicly apologize tomorrow morning to North and his family and also their audience for painting the perception that North was seriously injured and out for the year.

bill king did the same thing earlier. Its amazing how that whole deal blew up and so many outlets were reporting it as if it were concrete.

That's why you don't listen to that crap, plenty of other decent channels to listen to in Nashville besides that pile of crap

I typically like their show and they are new to the morning spot and I am thankful for that. Stillman and Callahan was awful!!!

If they through in the "what if" and "if reports are true" then what are you complaining about? That they did a show based on a hypothetical? Oh the humanity!

By the way, how is North personally harmed by a false report about the severity of his injury? I'm sure it's frustrating as a staff to have to set the record straight and reassure his parents but what's the actual damage to the player? The outrage over the reporting on this is about as unwarranted at the report itself IMO.

The only thing I didn't like about the Swain app is it can oly be downloaded on a phone. I have a new Tablet 4 and it says not compatible only for phones. But he is my favorite to listen to about UT Football.

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!

Just goes to show the credibility of the sports media on Nashville. Knoxville is no better.

It shows how desperate they are for discussion material if they spent an hour on an unconfirmed injury report of a WR. It may not have done anyone harm but it's a sign of what a waste of time their show is.

I'm still waiting for someone to get the right spelling of threw.

SO..... basically if it is not corrected then you are Threw with this thread?:dance2:

I gave up forum-correcting years ago for a lucrative career as an editor, but some errors like threw/through get my red ink boiling every time.

It's mid-august and they are a sports program based out of Nashville. An agent of the media announced earlier in the day that UT's most talented receiver was injured and could be out of the season. If you cant see that that is material worthy of discussion then I'm hoping you are not an alum of this university - or hell, anywhere. That someone has a college degree and cant understand how this story is news on a sports radio station in tennessee is almost unbelievable

If they are journalists, they would have confirmed the story. They are nothing but the hosts of a boring radio show so they ran with a rumor...and yes, UT grad class of 1996 (Finance). :hi:

It seems that our head coach agrees with my take on the matter...

"I think the injuries have really been blown out of proportion. It's really unfortunate that in this world and society, anybody can guess and be right and I think we need to get back to protecting these student-athletes. They're still kids and they have moms and dads. A report that a young man is out for the year - that's the most erroneous, misconstrued piece of reporting and journalism I've ever been a part of. It's really unfortunate because you have to call all the family members. They hear all that. You've got a young man walking up to you and saying, "Coach, what is all this out there?" I just believe in being factual, and it's really unfortunate."
- Butch Jones on 102.5 'The Game'

If those clowns on sports talk radio were actual journalists they would have verified their source and confirmed it before running with a rumor which was highly unprofessional. Their only excuse is that they aren't really journalists, so they don't really have standards of ethics and principles to meet. They are only about entertainment and they even fail at that.

When you are posting this while in car and typing at red lights and voice texting while driving, sometimes you come up with the mispelled choice word.

I guess you would have had to heard the context and smartassness of their throwing in of the what ifs and if reports are trues. Completely and utterly a smartass and baseless game they were playing. Like a bad game show.

As stated before it was voice to text.

I've never been able to say "threw" without it always typing "through".

I was in car sorry I didn't proof read.

Thank goodness this is a message board though....

Even worse is when a media outlet basically puts untrue stories out to the public without confirming if it's actually factual, as being factual.
