Shakers at the games

Unfortunately, I won't get to make it to the game but I will be using my shaker with pride!

I received an e-mail today that Jimmy Cheek helped bring in 9,000 orange and smokey grey pom poms for the student section this weekend. FWIW

Seems to me there are a lot of dudes on here that are too insecure in their masculinity to put a shaker in their hand. Nobody's gonna think you're less of a man if you have a pom pom in your hand

Seriously? Alabama fans have always cracked me up. There are thousands of 50 yr old men who really believe Alabama won their last 4 National Championships because at crucial points in a game, they shook their pom poms harder than the fans of the other teams.

You can't prove it didn't work

Yet, I'll bet that they are the same ones who "woo!"

How bout Rebel Rousers? I used to make fun of those guys, with the horns, helping the cheerleaders do their stuff, catching them as they fall in their arms, not anymore, how many times I heard those RR's getting laid, I'll be a Rebel Rouser, any day and help those sweet Cheerleaders do their stuff.

We need to do something unique... Every fan in Liverpool has a red scarf of their team and they hold it in the air when they play their songs before the game and at halftime "You'll Never Walk Alone" (their version of our Alma Mater or Rocky Top) .. Imagine 102,000 scarves in the air during pregame or 102,000 of them swirling in the air on Vanderbilts first offensive drive this Saturday.

Why not hand out shakers at the gates? Makes sense to me if they want that kind of environment. 102,000 people are not going to go buy shakers.

I don't know if this has been discussed, but the Athletic Dept is providing 10K shakers for the entire student section (not just the one portion of the student section as usual). While this isn't going to make a huge difference as far as seeing the whole shaker effect within the whole stadium, it is definitely a step in the right direction. IMO, there needs to be a jumbotron initiative in order to encourage people to bring shakers to the games starting next year.

Why do we all of a sudden have such a hard-on for shakers..because auburn looked cool the last game??? They've been doing it for yrs. Jeeeez just pathetic.

I'm not anti-shaker so don't go reporting me for trolling or whining that I'm anti-vol. I just can't stand when losers need to find what others are doing to act as if it's all of a sudden going to make things better. What r we going to get an eagle to fly from the press box to the field to start the game now???...wait...smh.

So do you have a suggestion? We need something new to add to all our other great traditions. I love USCjr sandstorm snd twirling the white towels. I don't care who you are, it is cool.

For years shakers were a tradition at UT.

The athletic department can't afford shakers with all of the buyout money they're paying over the past few years.
