Nah. The most shady person WAS Geno while he was building them up, but now he doesn't have to do any that stuff. However, Geno was the one who made poaching other team's committed recruits acceptable. But "acceptable" isn't the same as "right". (If everyone on this board found it more convenient for 2 plus 2 to equal 5, it would become acceptable, but it wouldn't become true.) It seems clear that it's one of the main things that turned Pat against him. There's a difference in being an iconoclast and breaking down traditions because they're wrong and breaking unwritten rules (or written ones, for that matter) simply because you can. Pat adhered to the unwritten rules and Geno didn't. It's one of the many reasons I pull against UConn. I have no desire for UT to become UConn.

More crudely put than I would like☺️, but you are correct.

Hire the best coach possible; forget sex, ‘tree’, or whatever. Just hire the best PERSON available and then support them.

And, if you can’t support the new staff and team, could you just please quietly pack your bags and gracefully leave? No reason to stir up hate and discontent. There’re enough trolls on here to adequately handle those duties.

Jeff Walz is the women's version of Bruce Pearl. We hopefully learned our lesson with shady characters. Neile Ivery is clean cut and a future super star. She is the clear choice.

Papa, thank you for that. You are correct. My experience with Geno goes back 15 years. However, I have never stopped disliking him. I would dislike him even if Uconn was 0-30.

I would be surprised if he wants to come here unless he is involved in so much shady stuff in Louisville he has to get out of town. Louisville is his town, he is very successful there, he is paid well for a women's coach, and, unless he is in trouble there, he probably has that job as long as he wants it. It's a bigger gamble for him to come to Tennessee than for us.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bruce set that up. If he did it was a great idea. I'm sure Pat enjoyed it either way.

Hoosier vol started post saying ESPN "confirms" Walz to UT. Clicked on it and it says "oops...not available". Plus...not seeing anything online. Where is he getting this from and if he's just making sh!t up then he should be removed from this site. I hate that crap.

I don't think Walz has ever had any interest in UT and I don't think UT will be interested in him. I hope Gail Goestenkors is being considered.

Walz is Geno Jr so if he’s hired Tennessee will definitely become UCONN. Just imagining him walking the sideline in Orange gives me the blues.

There is none known. People don't like him b/c he is direct sometimes, what so may consider abrasive. He has some biting staements often overlayed with sarcasm or indignation. He also will toot his own horn and that of his players loudly. Then there is also the large faction of WCBB people that get riled up when men are successful in WCBB. and thus look for and invent ways to disparage them.
