Severe Weather Thread

Storms knocked down a lot of trees where I live. My road was blocked off for a few hours.

The same area that got hit by the '09 tornado. This place is cursed.

Really horrible. Don't remember the exact stat, but yesterday was one of, if not the, worst days for tornadoes and storm related deaths in recorded history.

Heard Travis say on 3HL that it was the most reported tornadic activity since 1930something....ouch.

Over 100 tornadoes touched down in the south yesterday, I believe.

My mom is over that store and she told me it was beat up pretty bad. The McDonald's is working with the drive-thru only and the Pilot has some leaking roofs. I was just in the building yesterday, but it was before the storms hit.

I live like right next to it. Went over there earlier, the cieling is still messed up, but they've got it cleaned up for the most part.

that one that goes over Bham is the one that came through Tuscaloosa first. it doesn't look that big but inside it was that massive twister.

I watched it on the weather channel last night and from the radar it looked like a mini-hurricane going over the city the way it was swirling.

Just heard from my uncle (via my mom). He lives on Weiss Lake north of Gadsen and they've been advised it may be 2 weeks before they get power.

Don't apologize for posting.

My husband is out with the local power company (for who knows how long). He's an electrician. He said he's never seen anything like this. And he's just in one area.

Nothing to be sorry about. I only have friends that live in the area (all of which are safe) and I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around just how much destruction occurred.

What is crazy to me is that most of what everyone is posting is from TTown and Birmingham. I keep hear there is just as much damage in smaller towns in Bama, MS, ARK, GA and TN.

Thx for posting everything you have. Glad you are safe.

This is the satellite imagery of the tornado tracks. If you look closely, you will see faint whote lines running from bottom left to upper right. Those are the tracks. Simply amazing
