Sitting here on a Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and reflecting over the first slightly-over half of the season... We're 6-1, still in the race for the SEC title and/or a BCS bowl, and we beat Georgia and Alabama, lost to the gators by 1 point. We're ranked in the top 10, have beaten 2 opponents ranked in the top 10 at the time, and have garnered back our national respect. Our coaches are fired up, our players are playing with intensity, our once-stale offense is productive, and we have young players making an impact.

Last year after the 7th game we were 3-4, and had lost to the big 3, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. The only thing we had left to hope for was improvement and a spot in the Music City or Independence Bowl.

We still have quite a few games left, and while I'm confident that the coachs and players will continue to prepare and play with the same intensity they did through the first 7 games, I'm taking a moment to enjoy the ride thus far. After all, I'm a fan and I can afford to do that unlike the team.

After last season, sitting where we are right now is quite an accomplishment. We had so many worries on the off-season on how we would respond; would we be competitive against the big dogs this year, would our offense improve, would our special teams improve, would we get our pride back and play like a Tennessee football team should?

We've answered a lot of those questions, and again, while there is a lot of football left, and more big games, I just want to make sure everyone appreciates where we are at, because last year at this time was one of the low points in my life as a VOL fan and I know it was for most of us here.

Yeah, I'd say 6-1 with a win over bama is at least a little better than 3-4 with a loss.

I also prefer to be ranked, but that is just IMO.

Little did we know at the time, the Music City Bowl was only a pipe dream, and the cold hard reality was no bowl game at all.

What a difference a year makes.

When the season started and looked at the 5 big games (Cal, UF, UGA, UA, LSU) I wasn't sure if we'd make it 3-2 through them. Now we have a shot at going 4-1 through them and at a shot a 11-1. My pre-season prediction was 9-3 so I'm pretty dang pleased at this point.

At this point, I still think the Vols will go 10-2. If they can quit losing key players to serious injuries, they might have a shot at 11-1.

Keep in mind that Ga is no longer in the top ten, but Cal is (BCS).

Well, considering my preseason prediction was 11-1, the loss coming to LSU, I can honestly say that I am a bit disappointed that we are 6-1, instead of 7-0 at this point. That being said, I thought Florida was going to be awful, and they have proved to me a formidable team to reckon with. So, 10-2 would still please me greatly.

11-1 is still not out of reach.......We got the cocks next week......Then LSU @ home we should be pumped about that one...then @ the piggies after that should be smooth sailing......so we got 2 games in their that will be tough but games WE SHOULD win......i dont see lsu coming to knoxville and beating us, but they do have revenge on their mind
