Settle For a FG?????

Had little problem with it. Would've preferred he went for it, but get points on the board. What if you go for it with :30 left and don't get it? Now you lose the opportunity to score and with so little time left, you don't gain the field position edge. Just take the points.

Not to mention losing every shred of momentum we had gained...

What do you think not even trying for the TD tells the offense? If you all think a FG is gonna win this game then oh well. Scared play calling. Period.

With nothing to lose....at home against a superior team you're supppsed to lose to by 20....and you don't even try for the first down or possible TD on 4th and 1?????? You settle for a FG???? Wow.

I agree. The wimps on here can argue with us, but I agree with you. Butch was a gambler last year, and it often kept him in games. This year, it's like he's become a grandma that wants to win the jackpot lottery but thinks she'll play it save with a scratch-off card.

Do you not realize the importance of going into the locker room with a score?. A turnover on downs would have deflated the offense.

Turn your tv volume down and use your best judgement. We had to do beast package on 3rd down and failed miserably bc they have stopped Hurd on almost every carry....

Should have at least called a TO and lined up like they were going for it. Maybe Alabama lines up wrong. If you don't see anything call the last TO and kick anyway.

I don't think Jones has a very good grasp on game management.

We are huge underdogs at home, down 20 and we run our linebacker up the middle when everybody in the free world knew what we were about to do; behind a line that's been poor all year??!! And then we kick a field goal!!' Really....? Really...? Freaking go for it! Give yourself a chance. Who cares if you lose, your supposed to lose but give yourself a chance. I literally came unglued and I'm not one of those fans that comes unglued. That, in my opinion, is DUMB
Amen!

Read the bolded part back to yourself and try not to laugh.

The mistake was was not using Dobbs/Hurd/Lane on a read option play if you ask me. And regardless how bad the O has been its his job to put faith in his players.

Dobbs is moving the offense. For the team's pysche, needed to get points. I more confused at using AJ in the wildcat on 3rd and 1.

Also, the OL seems regenerated. Chemistry is one of the intangibles you can't put your finger on until it happens.

We were more likely to get a false start. You guys easily forget how horrible our offense has been.

I do understand that. However I also am a realist. We're so out talented it's sad. That freaking FG won't mean a hill of beans when this game is over. If you think the positive of any so called locker room momentum outweighs the negative of kicking FGs against Alabama and getting beaten by 20 then so be it.

I 100% agree with the OP. Your down 20 against Bama at home and you we play it safe? Everyone talking about momentum but did Alabama not build momentum by holding us to just a field goal when we had them on their heels? It's also still a 3 score game just like it was before we kicked the field goal. Get it to a 2 score game by at least trying to score a touchdown. The problem lies with the crappy 3rd down call. Your moving the ball with Hurd and Dobbs and you have the element of surprise with the QB getting the ball. Everyone in the free world knew AJ was going to run it. Stupid play calling as always and can't stand playing just to keep it close. I can watch that crap on Sundays

You are correct.. Line up trying to draw a penlty, if no flag thrown then call time out and kick. You have to have points and not kick off again til 3rd quarter.
