This is the song our band director thinks represents our fanbase? It's hard enough for our fanbase to get up and get pupmed for a game as it is. If have to hear this damn song at a Vols game one more time, I may lose it. The most recent is the Uconn basketball game but it has been played at Neyland for years and it needs to stop. It makes us sound like we are sad and pathetic and praying to be in the building not to mention it is pathetic rock n roll song. And to add my buckey friends were at the game and they couldnt stop laughing and asked me "seriously, living on a prayer?" I had nothing because it's NOT the first time i have heard this from another fanbase. I just can't get over how sad we sound as fanbase when this is what we're breaking out during a game. Oh oh i hope we don't get drilled, is what they might as well be singing. I refuse to perticipate. What about a rock n roll song that pumps the crowd up and is not a sad piece of crap. What about "we will rock you?" Any suggestions? Anything is better than a Bon Jovi song. Does anyone here know someone in the band? Please tell them enough is enough, In our house "We will rock you!" Go Vols!!

Band director needs to be fired. I would quit the band if they made me play that crap, especially at a football game

Bon Jovi sucks. In fact that song is one of the worst songs ever written. Pay attention to the lyrics. It really doesn't make sense.

There are several bands that have played this throughout the years and I actually like the song! But if you want to really pump me up give me Duck and Run by Three Doors Down but I imagine that would be hard for a band to play! Lol

Annnnnnnnnnnnnd the award for saying the stupidest **** goes to...tums

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
He's down on his luck
It's tough, so tough

Gina works at a diner all day
Working for her man
She brings home her pay
For love, for love

She says
We've gotta hold on
To what we've got
It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not
We've got each other
And that's a lot
For love, we'll give it a shot

Oh, they're halfway there
Oh, living on a prayer
Take my hand
We'll make it I swear
Oh, living on a prayer

Tommy's got his six-string in hock
Now he's holding in when he used to make it talk
So tough, it's tough
Gina dreams of running away
She cries in the night
Tommy whispers 'baby it's okay, someday...'

We've gotta hold on
To what we've got
It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not
We've got each other
And that's a lot
For love, we'll give it a shot

Oh, they're halfway there
Oh, living on a prayer
Take my hand
We'll make it I swear
Oh, living on a prayer
Living on a prayer

Oh, we've gotta hold on
Ready or not
You live for the fight
When that's all that you've got

Oh, they're halfway there
Oh, living on a prayer
Take my hand
And we'll make it I swear
Oh, living on a prayer
[repeat to end]

What exactly doesn't make sense about this song again?

I saw Bon Jovi in concert about 7 years ago in Vegas and it was the best concert I've ever been to.

Oh my God, this thread is going to turn into another Rocky Top woo thread.

Seriously, who the @#$^ gives a $#*% about a woo in Rocky Top? Waaa, it's not part of the original song. REALLY? WHO EFFING CARES?

People complain about the dumbest crap. Get over it. We don't sing the original Rocky Top. Why don't people get upset over every other minute change to Rocky Top? It's just a freakin' cheer. You don't want people to cheer? Can they say woo outside of Rocky Top?

woo haters are the worst kind of haters lol. They believe they are "cool" or "traditionalists" by jumping on this ridiculous bandwagon of hating. Well wooing during Rocky Top is a tradition, so learn to accept it.

hate the woo. It's not part of the song and wasn't a tradition until the mid to late 90's. Getting rid of the woo will return UT to greatness #truestory

I just don't understand hating the woo in Rocky Top. Isn't there something more productive you can put your hate towards? The woo is the loudest part of Rocky Top. Don't you want the stadium to be loud? Half the people don't even sing Rocky Top, but they'll sing the woo, so we've gotta keep it.

"We've gotta hold on
To what we've got
It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not"

If it doesn't make a difference, then why do you have to hold on to what you've got? You can always tell the lack of intelligence among those around you by their love for Bon Jovi.
