This has probably been covered but i read this about SUnseri and i read through his contract. He is going to be due 800,000 per year of existing contract or somewhere close correct?

For those of you just saying demote Sunseri to Linebackers coach that is not going to happen. He was hired to do a job, and is failing miserably, and does not have to accept being sent down to LB coach. I would rather take the money and run myself and maybe take a few years off.

I was listening to some talking head Sunday morning and they were talking about the disconnect between the administration and the football program and the changes that have been made that have hurt UT. Things like the appointment of people on the board that could care less about the program to the reassisgment to that huge tutoring complex to all students.

My point is since 1999 when the changes to the UT football program really started this has been a downhill slide. Until those things are fixed and everyone gets on board you are not going to see a big name coach want to come into this debacle.

Its not just as easy as firing the HC although i would want to see it just because his history both here and at LA Tech sucks. Ask any major program that has a history of sucess and they have the entire backing from the board to Bobby Bouche and we dont have that and changing coaches is not going to help that.

Thats wishful thinking. I have never been fired from a job but i sure as hell would make them fire me if a had 1.5 million riding on it.

That and he has a contract that says whats he gonna get paid...be highest paid position coach in the history of college football.

The point is his contract says he gets paid x amount. That won't change with a position demotion. So then we would have a ridiculously high paid LB coach, plus a new DC salary. All in all that doesn't make sense.

Sure it does. Your paying Sal his money if he is here or if he is fired along with Dools and staff. IF the new coach felt Sal could coach LB's, then that is one less coach you have to hire/pay buyout. A new LB's couach would run 200-300 grand a year. You would save AT LEAST that amount by just retaining Sal to do the job. Courting costs, traveling or bringing coaches in to interview all costs money. Most coaches would not retain Sal as he has been a wreck here as DC. IF they did move him to LBs only, it would save us some money. 800 grand is alot for a linebackers coach. A 1.84 million dollar buyout PLUS 300 grand for new a LBs coach equates to more.

I have reviewed the original contract that Sal signed, and in fact, have it sitting on my cherry wood desk right now. After carefully reviewing it, I have concluded, that his defense gives up a ton of yards and points every game.
