Serious Question? / Honest Opinion

So with us not being very big spenders in the portal thus far and losing as many kids as we have lost between draft and portal If things don't get better quickly looking at our schedule which looks considerably harder how many wins do they really think we will get next yr? 7-8 wins is what I predict our ceiling is w this current roster and probably leaning more towards 7. If JH goes out and only wins 7 or 8 games does JH get fired?
There is very good chance we go 7-5 or 6-6 next season and Heupel gets fired

"Honest" opinion. Lol. Very little real honesty around here.

Ask how many honestly and secretly hope we go 7-5 and Heupel gets fired.

How many of you are concerned with our coaching staff right now? I'm not trying to trigger anyone, but I was concerned after the Oklahoma game when Josh didn't know the clock rules, this was over half way through the season and cost us any hope of a CFP appearance, obviously there were other things that game that cost us, but it's absurd a head coach who coaches offensive would not know the clock rules.

Now he seems not to understand portal players are just as important as highschool players, and more important in some positions due to having experience already. This is not even about money or talent, you don't have time to invest in recruiting 3 star highschool players who wont see the field for 3 years, if you want 3 star players go get portal players who already have playing time, I really don't understand, and my honest opinion is Josh has check out mentally, he is not thinking but just going through the motions, and I don't know why.
Josh’s job is in the line, as I see it. He is one season away from being officially on the hot seat. In my opinion, he needs to start being a head coach and stop being an offensive coordinator. After five seasons, he should give the play calling chart to a true OC and step up and be an actual SEC head coach. Alex Golesh did that successfully. I see absolutely no reason to believe we’ll have more than 7-8 wins this fall if Josh stays as our OC.

even as much as some say they dont care about bowl games anymore ,if we don't make one I think his seat gets warm.and the only way he gets fired would be 4-8 or below

lol Heupel isn’t getting fired even at 5-7
wanna bet. My uncle is a big booster and donor and he said anything less than 8-4 and missing the playoff again and there will be serious discussions to move on from Heupel, alot of the big boosters and big money people like my uncle were very upset about this season and especially the beatdown by Vandy.

I think Heupel gets to 27. He has done good things here, and there's a lot of people who remember what it was like to wander in the wilderness. Now, he might get pressure to make staff changes, both offensive coaching and organizational (like our GM), but I don't see him getting fired in 26.

A lot of people, including me, want Heupel to succeed. It would be better to work with Heupel, maybe give him some help in the front office, than to roll the dice on another coach.

He will probaly make it to 2027 imo barring a disaster of a season like 4-8 or something but ya never know. The 2026 schedule is brutal.

That's why I've been so concerned about the portal. We don't have 6 or 7 cupcake games built in like we did this year.

First off, wasn't that a new rule for this season?...I mean yeah he missed it, but when's the last time you did your own taxes and hit every rule change?...These small rules in college ball change as fast and as much as the tax laws.

Second, blaming that Oklahoma loss on the runner not getting a first down, Heupel not taking a time out to stop the clock, some other way to stop the clock, or a kicker missing a FG is absurd.
That game was lost in many, many ways. If the D would have made just one of those 3rd and long stops, it would be a different outcome.
If the offense doesn't commit at least one of those false start penalties, we get a first down and keep a drive alive, and see a different outcome.

Blaming the OU loss on CJH not knowing in the heat of the moment that the runner didn't make the 1st down, the clock wasn't at 2:00, and would keep running is just crazy talk.

TN didn't do so well at home this year.
We got Arch, Bama, Golesh and Kiffin coming this year. If we lose to Auburn/Golesh I think things are going to get pretty warm.
KY got a new coach so who knows what that will bring.
On paper there are some real good games this year but it's going to be brutal

You are correct but all the things you listed that caused us to lose that game fall
On the shoulders of the head coach as well. Kicker missed field goal, had he already missed some before? Did heupel hand pick said kicker? Did heupel have another kicker to go to?

So, do you honestly think that Josh Heupel has any control over how much money is spent in the portal? I don’t think fans that think like you have any clue how this works. It is pro football free agency with ZERO rules in place. With all of this being completely mercenary, if a coach tries to coach a kid, they will just hop back in the portal to get a better deal. Children with no financial knowledge getting paid millions for playing a game is a recipe for chaos. Look around, it is right in front of your eyes.

I will bet whatever you want. Oh your uncle hub? Well my wife’s brother is a big time booster and he said the opposite. Just stop with the BS. Oh the big money people are upset but those same big money people won’t pony up the cash to buy the roster we need.

Bookmark it now. If we go 6-6, Heupel is our coach in 2027.
