Two Hard Heads that could not get to a compromise.

Vitello open and warm, speaks his mind, always considers what is best for the team and the recruit never himself. Great in interviews and with people. Includes everybody in the conversation. Speaks on the behalf of others as well. Never met a stranger.

White is cautious and reserved. Not great a public speaking or paying compliments except in written form. His job requires fund raising to a degree. A different leadership style and more than lightly does not like to be challenged on his decisions. He is not as personable but is good at what he does. His public speaking can be good and bad at times. Overall he is not a good public speaker as he stutters for the right words to say.

Plowman is a gem.

For what it's worth, Elander may have gotten rammed down his throat and why he stated anything about Elander's salary in the announcement is beyond me. To follow it up White stated 1 Million is what we do here for first year coaches or words to that affect.

Bottom Line: DW was not going to be the guy that went outside the box and hire a long shot and hand over the keys to a baseball team that had already won a National Championship. His hands were already tied and his decision was made for him. If he, did he would have been saturated with PH Calls emails at some point. To do so would have been disloyal to everybody concerned and the fanbase.
It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to figure that out and it would have been a self inflicted Chest wound.
