Serious here.... I think Jeremy Pruitt should be the next head coach.

Pruitt created major locker room problems when he was at Georgia a few years ago under Mark Richt. Those problems were one of the reasons Mark Richt was forced to exit. Also worth noting that Kirby Smart (wisely IMO) chose not to retain Pruitt.

I'd compare Pruitt to Lane Kiffin. Pruitt is an excellent DC with a great track record on the defensive side when he can be reigned in by a strong, mature coach. As a head coach, however, his personality flaws would become a much bigger issue. Part of Mark Richt's failure his last two seasons at UGA was his inability to reign in Pruitt.

People underestimate how much of Saban's brilliance is simply being able to manage difficult personalities.

Here’s to hoping the Kiffin comparison doesn’t hold true...

This comment deserves to be bumped...

remy Pruitt
Jeremy Pruitt (born May 28, 1974) is the defensive coordinator for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.[1] He was the secondary coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2010 to 2012 and won two national championships. Pruitt left Alabama and became Florida State's defensive coordinator in 2013, where he won a third national championship with the Seminoles.[2] In his only season as defensive coordinator, his defense was 1st in the nation in scoring defense (10.7 ppg), 3rd in the nation in total defense (248.2 ypg), 2nd in the nation in passing defense, and 1st in the nation in interceptions (26). Pruitt was a 2013 finalist for the Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top college football assistant coach, and is again a finalist in 2016.. He played college football at Middle Tennessee and Alabama.
This didn’t age well.

Got to have a qb and keep recruiting. I'm hoping his recruiting keeps going. 9 in row in the sec wasn't bad last year. Beat a ok indiana team, who's ranked top 15 now. And just beat michigan. Chaney is the problem right now.and a young defense.
Just realized you are the op. Time to accept you were wrong man. The problem is Jeremy Pruitt

So can we blame you for all this?

He's had three years to get us a QB ready for now, it's his fault. Name one damn thing that makes you think he's going to get it done here. Otherwise you can go join KTown and Pulaski at the "nothing is ever wrong" table and you all can talk about how great our two wins this year were.

And, to get ahead of ole Slingblade, I will go on record as saying that #2 does not give us the best chance to win next year, either.

The QB problem is owned by Pruitt.

Its amazing how on point the concerns were.

Arrogant hothead. Stubborn.

And here we are.

There has been a lot of commentary about Pruitt on VN over the years. There have been people who made thoughtful observations about Pruitt's personality, his coordinator hires in 2018, the continued adjustment issues, the QB and OL fundamental issues, the micromanaging, and the decline in staff quality in 2020 vs 2019. To be fair, there's been some hateful observations about the QB play but I digress. Those people have been called Negavols and are usually subjected to the "Pruitt knows football" line or "It's Butch's fault" or "Our rebuild is much harder than other schools" or "COVID". Not sure how its Butch Jones fault that we couldn't make adjustments Saturday night but oh well.

Probably should have had a Butch Jones exorcism. It feels like his hand is still on the wheel.

At this point I'm just hoping the Freeze thread is as epic as the Gruden threads were. Soon.

I don't see CJP getting fired this year.

He does have some positions coach issues.

Offense: a new QB coach, RB Coach is fine, OL coach?, OC I think Chaney stays but not positive, Tee should be safe.
Defense: Obviously we need a new DL coach. As far as the LB coaches and Secondary, man I don't know who to point the finger at? The coaching definitely dropped off from last season, injuries, no Spring season and COVID play a part but other teams face a lot of these issues too. Coach Ansley did a good job with team last season but now there are 3 new position coaches, so I don't know.

It would be nice if Cutcliffe wanted to step down from the high stress of head coaching and become our new QB coach. He did pretty good with David Jones and some guy named Peyton Manning.

Tennessee hasn't had good QB coach since Dooley left. Even with Dobbs, I think it was more his abilities than QB coach making them better.
