If we beat Florida then we feel good about our season and know WE control our own destiny. Everytime they beat us I cant ever sleep that night because im stressing over the fact that they HAVE to lose 2 SEC games and we basically have to win out. Man I hate trying to sleep after getting beat by Florida!

I hope I'm not misunderstood by this, but which team did you play for? By that I mean what years were you on the Volunteer football team. See what I mean? Maybe it's because you're young cause when I was young I also took it personally when the Vols lost a football game. Turns out that as I got old I realized it's just a football game and there's another one next week. The only guys that should lose sleep over a football game are the coaches and that's why we're here!!!

Oh so you dont mind seeing Urban Meyer out coach and get a leg on us in recruiting. Plus, a lose to Florida basically eliminates us from the SECCG and is the start of another underachieving Cotton Bowl caliber year. Not only that but as a student at UT I( and most students) now consider the September showdown our biggest rivalry over the 3rd Saturday in October. So yea it bugs me seeing those obnoxious gator fans celebrating at Neyland Stadium and seeing them win a national title in Urbans second year in his reign of terror. A lot of Big Orange fans lose sleep after a loss to Florida.

Just to know that we've beaten the Gators makes me feel good about the Vols season. Then the "BIG ORANGE" control their own detiny. We HAVE TO BEAT THE GATORS even to have a shot at winning the SEC East. If we don't then we have to rely on the rest of the league to take care of the Gators and that just doesn't happen often. How many years has it been since the Gators, UT and UGA all had two losses in the conference? Believe that was the year the Dawgs won it.:dunno:

That game has become the defining moment for both teams of late, hasn't it? Win and you control your opportunity to get to the SEC title game, plus a realistic path to the national championship. Lose it, and you are mired in the also-rans...

I remember last year, people said both coaches need that win so bad, but Fulmer needed even worse. The situation will change this year, Only Fulmer would be the person need the win so bad.

why the hell did it take this long? losing to bama isnt as hurtful as losing the east race to florida
matter of opinion obviously, the fl game is more important from SEC standpoint than the Bama game, no arguement there.

but a funny thing happens to me every week before the bama game...i start to remember things. bad things. and then game day comes...and then i remember....i hate bama. i really hate bama. i hate losing to bama worse than anyone. the younger fan hates fl, and rightfully so. i don't like them either.

but with FL, the bulk of that hatred was because of SPurrier. it was spurrier vs. fulmer. still is.....

but with bama, it never matters who's the coach. all i need to see is a stupid elephan and crimson helmets and hear "roll tide" chanted over and over again...the sight of thsoe crimoson uni's.......ugh. it just gets me everytime. the dislike isn't spent on any one individual like it is with FL. it's the whole thing i don't like.

The Florida game is always the benchmark for our season.
it didn't used to be....granted, the divisonal race has created good rivalries and that FL game is what can set our season apart now...no arguement there.

Bigger than 2001 SECC game?
maybe. in 2001, we were in the top 5, were only a copule of years removed from our last SEC title and NT...things were still on the up. no one could see that just 3-4 years later, we'd be like we are now. at the time, most thought it would be one of several trips to ATL. now............who knows says a portion of our fanbase, so i can certainly see why some would heap so much on a game like this at this time. lose that game and you are behind the 8 ball big time. win it and you have assured yourself a one game cushion between us and them....
