Sorry for your loss, really, I was pulling hard for you guys. My question is Why was there so much pressure on Crompton? You had a line that allowed 4 sacks against the SEC for an entire season last year!!! Not taking anything away from UCLA but surely they aren't any better than some of the teams you guys played last season. Am I offbase here?
The 4 sacks from last year thing was waaaayyyyy overrated. We had lots of pressure on the QB last year, but Ainge was always quick to get out of the pocket and throw the ball away. May have been his best attribute.

You will have to excuse my typing and probably my spelling at this point in time as I will probably miss a couple of mistakes due to extreme anger that is making my body shale right now...first off let me make it clear, I love Tennessee football, It is one of the things in my life that keeps me driven, Like many have said it is a religion...what I saw last night made me sick to my stomach...I wanted and waited for this season to start because of all the excitement surrounding the new offensive cord and the new sets and a nasty defense and yet what I saw was a team that would have struggled with Charlston Southern...I personally have been one of Fulmers biggest defenders but after what I witnessed last night, no more...Thats it, I fully support a change...And not just him, Get Clawson out of there as well and Chavis...These guys have been around long enough to know what to do and they can't do it or won't do it and its making us look like idiots and making a last resort QB who was scared out of his wits look like Joe Montana...This new OC is nothing but smoke and mirrors, Same old plays but different sets...Nothing more nothing less...I sat at a bar with friends who support other teams, Gators, Canes etc and they all felt sorry for me as We watched Fulmer stand there, Chewing his gum with no emotion on his face...Only time was when UCLA scored that late TD...Clawson looked like he had never coached a game in his life...I see one of the biggest massacres in UT history coming in neyland on sept 20th and I can't stand to say that...It's so hard to try and be positive right now, I saw nothing good about this team, the vaunted secondary was torched in the 2nd half...I don't know what else to say, My entire season is completely ruined because of this one game...I just can't ge excited now....Sorry to be so negative but its how I feel...It's time for a change.

Amen...we all feel the same way!!!I have never been lost for words till today!!!A very sad day to be a vol!!

We need a coach that is going to recruit studs and head hunters like Al Wilson, Leonard Little, Will Overstreet, Jason Witten, and John Henderson. After watching that UCLA defeat, it is clear that we belong in the MAC or the SWAC. The talent is there, the problem is coaching and recruiting the right pieces to the puzzle.

I think the worst part about it was (I could be wrong but,) they seemed to being throwing very simple short passes and we couldn't do a damn thing about it.

The continual slide toward mediocrity at UT under this regime could not be more stark to all observers as we wake up on the morning after. The talent just isn't there like it used to be. The coaching, for some reason, has regressed at a steady clip for 7 years, to the inexcusable debacle we watched last night.

All the while, Fulmer and his minions hatched a new deal which leaves Volnation no options. Imagine this scenario for the remainder of the season: go on to lose to Fla, Aub, UGA, and Bama, to close October at 3-5, 1-4 in league play. Then, like always, Fulmer "recovers" to beat the hapless of the East, goes to the Music City to beat a midling Big10 team, and finishes 8-5. Amazingly, he will receive an extension for this "quality season" by Mr. Hamilton.

This is the new reality at UT....while Florida, Georgia, and Bama all continue to strengthen and separate.

Unfortunately, you put my exact thoughts into words. Now awake and with a couple of cups of coffee in me, I accept that we are just simply not good enough to be considered amongst the nation's elite.

Barring some miraculous turnaround for the team, I just can't see us competing with UF, UGA, Alabama, or Auburn. The truth is: we were beaten by the second team offense of a deservedly unranked team. The powerhouses of the SEC will likely manhandle us.

OK folks, yeah they looked lost last night. The season is long and all of you who want to send me your tickets I'll be glad to take them. If you recall, LSU had 2 losses last year and, oh by the way, won the national title. They lost to Arkansas and Kentucky. Not saying the criticism of Fulmer and co isn't deserved, but let's play the rest of the games anyway just for the hell of it.

You know... I agree. But like I was saying last night, you watch. Fulmer will pull a big win out of his rearend (don't know where, maybe 'bama or georgia) to justify hammy keeping him around... we'll finish with 8 wins after beating nc state in the music city bowl, but show "improvement down the stretch" as we beat Wyoming, Kentucky and Vandy, and hambone will honor the ridiculous contract and reward him with a raise and extension.

This BS will continue without change. And change won't happen, so we're stuck with BS.

This reminds me of Buzzball when the team did not really do anything well and was not sure what it could do. After listening to everyone and watching the game it came down to one very simple problem. We did not win because our offensive line got beaten badly. I never thought I would see a Phil Fulmer coached team ever get beaten on the offensive line when you have experienced players there. We used to have O-lines that could tell you where we were going to run and then do it anyway. Am I old fashioned or missing something here?

Foster 13-96, Hardesty 12-66 = 6.5 ypc

I wouldn't exactly say the offensive line was "beaten badly." We ran the ball effectively, and if anything, we gave up on it for some unknown reason.

I couldn't understand why we were so determined to throw the ball. It was clear Crompton wasn't comfortable and Hadesty and Foster were running the ball well except for Foster's fumble. It seems we gave up on the run when it was working pretty well for us. Of course, on the bright side of things, we are still undefeated in the SEC although it doesn't appear that will last past the 20th.
