Tennessee only has Tennessee to blame for its current football program misery.
Goes back to the Kiffin hire immediately followed up by allowing one of the best coaches in the country depart instead of retaining him as the head coach - Ed Orgeron.
We had him on staff and let him go. Instead we hired mediocrity and continue to do so a decade later - in both our head coach and our AD.

If we want to turnaround this self inflicted misery immediately - hire Urban Meyer to get the program in championship form in two years.
He sees the program as a top 10 program and he has the ability to motivate the talent we have on the team and elevate Tennessee football back to greatness.

Quit with the mediocre, experimental hires. And quit with the fan discussions of Tee Martin, Peyton Manning, others as head coaching hires. We've experimented enough and we've killed the program. Wish we could hire the man we had on staff a decade ago - Orgeron - but LSU made the move we should have made, realizing they had their guy on staff already.

Fulmer has simply exasperated the UT football problem by bringing in another experiment in Pruitt. Fire Pruitt and Fulmer, hire Urban Meyer and let's get this dumpster fire snuffed out once and for all.

I'm a long time season ticket holder and UT fan and I've had enough of the self inflicted misery at UT. Get it done UT or the football program is done for good.

I dont blame them for not hiring Ed Orgeron. It wasn't like there were programs beating down doors to hire the guy

The issue was twice thinking the pricetag for Gary Patterson was too high.....

We hired guys (Kiffin and Dooley) that were hundreds of thousands cheaper than Patterson but we ended up paying Dooley and Butch buyouts in the 8 digits...

yep. we keep Orgeron and name him head coach after the Kiffin departure or we hire Patterson in the first place and the VOLS are in the CFP picture today. Piss poor decisions by the administration have led to this mess and Fulmer has kept that going with the Pruitt hire. Both should be gone today.

oh but they were beating down doors to hire Derek Dooley? Wow. Our lack of ability to sum up a coach's abilities is exactly why we're in this mess. Thanks for making my argument for me.
I didnt say that Dooley was a hot commodity. Sure in retrospect you can make the point about Orgeron, but at the time that would have been looked at as another bargain barrel hire

Is this thread a just key to get a knee jerk reaction?
Anyone can be successful at LSU! How did he do at Ole Miss? He couldn’t even win there with the Blindside on his team.

It is ALWAYS more expensive hiring the wrong person compared with the right one.
