Rise, I hope you are right and I will be the happiest guy on here if you are. I was just giving you some reasons why many bettors and experts think this game will be decided by less than a TD.

As for JRM, I know I saw Worley run away from him on a 50 yd TD run in the OW game. Others who have been to the practices are not impressed with his speed on the field. As I have said on several occasions, the Vols should win but there are enough questions (especially playing 25+ freshman) to not bet a lot of money on a point spread of 7+

They all seem to get abused on the edge, have trouble finding productive DTs (especially NTs) and bust in the secondary.

i know he didnt play but moving Azubike to OLB from DE is like Sunseri moving Jac Smith to jack linebacker. Dude has no business being a stand up backer with his horrible lateral quickness. Hes a pure hand in the dirt DE.

It baffles me. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees it. What amazes me is even by their second year in the scheme they rarely look much better than they did coming from the 4-3. UT never got that far but think back to the horse race we had with UGA in 2012. They couldn't stop us. They only won because we were in year one of our debacle.

This is fact. Not many fans don't 100% agree. That said I bet the majority wouldn't wager $100 on it with all we've seen and been through.

Agree with everything minus the coach comparison. They are a very well coached team. We are still waiting to find out how good our coach is.

The line in Vegas keeps dropping ( now down to -4.5). Most of the money is also on USU (86%). This basically means most of the nation is thinking the aggies are going to pull an upset. Do you think the vols are in real danger of losing this game or is USU overhyped?

Vols 21 USU 16.5 :loco:

I've said it many times. This game won't be close for long. If USU gets the ball first they had better score or this game will get out of hand quick for them

Tennessee is still a below average SEC team in terms of talent. If you are forced to play over 25 guys who haven't even been through an entire off season weight program, you aint' that talented.

Expect some break downs on defense and some missed assignments on offense. But, also expect some great plays from the freshmen. I hope the great plays out number the mistakes.

Vols in a close one.

Honestly, I'm tired of hearing this. Close first half, second half we pull away and win by 21+.

I'm not surprised by line movement. It's Vegas baby.
Come on. As fans, (me being one) our eyes are all watery with the prospect of our team "being good" this year. As far as unrealistic expections, (yeah, me again) we really don't know what will happen. That's why they play the game. But honestly I have to believe we, not only can beat USU, we will beat USU. By how much? Really... who knows. :good!::clapping::peace2:
GO VOLS!

Vandy too. I said something similar in around ncaa. If I'm an AD hiring a new coach who wants to switch to 3-4 I'm asking him to run a 4-3 first and spend a solid year recruiting for it and phasing it in. I've yet to see the switch not cost a team an entire season. Even then the horses needed up front are harder to recruit.

Actually, a similar approach is what Dooley did. He had wanted to run the 3-4 before he hired Sunserri. I always liked the 3-4_IN THE PROs_ and liked how it had worked in the few instances where it had been implemented in CFB. Now I'm not sure it can be installed for exactly the reasons DD4ME posits above. It takes far too long to install & it takes a special player type for it to work at a level to be championship competitive. Blow it and you haven't just lost 1 year. It'll take at least 2 or 3 more to turn around your recruiting requirements and get those players through college S&C and coached up to have a competitive depth.

Even though we have new guys on the lines, people are not taking into consideration we have a solid senior QB that will not be spooked, Marlin Lane, WRs out the wazoo (Pig will play with a chip on his shoulder), 2-3 LBs that are complete studs and very smart game managers, a top DB in Sutton, then you have a three year starter in Randolph containing the backside.... we have smart kids that are looking to prove something on the O line and a bunch of inexperienced, but stronger and faster DL..... we will win. Might be by only a TD, but we will win....

Ill be honest im tired of so many people even VOL fans not having confidence we win handedly. Their QB and RB are each returning from ACL tears, they have a new OL and DL, they do have good LBs, but then their secondary is depleted with a guy who couldn't make it here, starting for them. I think we win by 17+.

True, but I was reading on the 2012 roster that Daniel Grey has 4.32 speed, sure didn't look like it when the Vols played Troy in 2012.

Not a chance. He probably falls under the same category that Rajion Neal did. All I ever heard about Rajion while he was here is that he was a burner with 4.3 speed....and then he runs 4.53 and 4.57 at his pro day.

These radio and t.v. programs and media articles have to pick an upset pick of the week. IT doesn't mean that in their heart of hearts that they believe that we will lose.
They probably know we will win but they have to put an upset game out there.

Vegas had us 7 pt favorites. That is what they think. The line moves by how people are betting, not by a change in the Vegas opinion. This game is loaded with unanswered questions! The amount of turnover on both squads has a lot of people calculating. Our talent level should make the difference, imo. Vols 31-20

GO VOLS!!!
