The UGA game? You mean the one where we had six points through 55 minutes? That game was over even before Bray got hurt.
Being creative. I'm not expecting greatness. But you don't think USClite gave us some opportunities we should have capitalized on? How about the fact we start a freshman in his first game and call zero rollouts to help him shorten the field? How about we still have zero run game with five returning starters on the offensive line? How about the fact in three straight games we have had a 4th and 1 and get a false start? How about the fact that everyone in the freakin stadium knew Shaw was running a QB draw, and yet there wasn't anybody within three yards on him and zero QB spy?
That's the stuff I'm talking about.
SCjr gave us plenty of opportunities. I agree with you, I thought we could have given him some better looks, however I'd remind you that South Carolina had the #1 pass defense in the nation going into this game. No freshman outside the second coming of Peyton would have success. Worley had some flashes, but he, like nearly all other QB's, needs a couple years of practice before he's ready to start SEC games.
As for the run game, I don't know what you expected. We couldn't run the ball against air last season (even Vandy was punking us on the run), I don't know why you'd expect anything different the second time around. The pass blocking is improved, but the only factor in run blocking is raw physical ability. It was never there.
Also agreed on the false starts. Though I would need to hear more about what efforts have been made in practices to improve snap counts.
And for Shaw, I saw what we all saw the last four games: Our LB's suck and everybody is taking advantage of it. When we have the first teamers all in there, we do a fine job of getting pressure, but the second we have to start subbing in LB's, opposing offenses know they can just move the pocket and any QB with at least some mobility will be able to get positive yardage. That's a depth issue.
The bottom line is that the vast, vast majority of this team's issues comes down to the fact that we have a really bad roster. There's really nothing more to it than that.
