I plan on taking my 11 year old Son on our annual trip to a game again this year. He wants to sit as close to field as possible, will forego quality of opponent. I found a couple of tickets in section L row 5. Does anyone know if these are obstructed seats or anything? The price seems kind of low. Does anyone have any suggestions on what rows are preferable when sitting in the lower level? Please bear in mind we are on a very tight budget, just trying to create a memory with my little man. Any suggestions/feedback is appreciated.

They are in the south endzone close to the tunnel where the visitors enter the field. You will be close to the field and have an unobstructed view. However, being low in the endzone makes it difficult to keep up with play once the ball crosses the 50 going the other way. Plus, you will have to turn completely around and look up to see replays on the jumbotron.

L is directly between the uprights. You won't have a very good view of the jumbotron (it'll be behind you) and when the ball is on the other end of the field, visibility will be limited.

See view here (I think it's even from row 5)http://gridscape.com/facilities/stadium/virtualneyland/L5.htm

Lower rows in the upper level are underrated in my opinion. I've had season tickets on row 4 of the upper deck for 20 years.

Agree. I come for a game every year from KC and the last three years I've chosen to buy tickets in row 1 or row 2 of section BB, CC or DD (sidelines). And I absolutely love those seats. Great view of the whole field and can watch the play develop. You can easily still see the numbers on the players jersey. So the view is never compromised.

If you are doing a yearly thing with your 11 year old, he might think it is cool to sit in different areas of the stadium growing up. For them, it is probably more about absorbing the atmosphere and experiencing the excitement. Most folks with season tickets experience it pretty much the same every week. You can give your little man a chance to know Neyland Stadium from several different angles.

Yeah, the jumbotron is behind you. How many years have people gone to games there when there was no jumbotron? So what? Most 11 year olds won't care about that. But if you want to give him what I think would be the best moment? If they still have the eagle fly down during the national anthem, be sitting below his launch point where he swoops down over your head. I have seen that once, and it was worth it.

Row 5 is super close, he will have a blast. Just be glad he isn't asking for a ride on the elevator or Row 50 on the 50.

Thanks for the input. we plan on sitting down and making our purchase this weekend. We both look forward to going each year, as it's a guys trip only for us he is the only boy out of 4 kids. He was born in Cincinnati and has lived in Northern KY his whole life but he is already a die hard VOL, so I'm doing at least one thing right as a parent.

Depending on the opponent, you maybe able to get right down there close as he wants I the third qtr.

Limited jumbotron view. It has its pros and cons. I actually moved to LL for a better view of the far side of the field. Plus you can always tell if the field goals are good lol.

Last year I sat in B about row 30 for the Florida game. I loved the seats, except the sun was in our eyes. I would say section S-V Rows 10-30 would be perfect. Great view of the jumbotron, good view of all action on the field.

actually i think you have it exactly backwards I'd think for an 11 year old the jumbotron would be a huge deal
