Are you hating on the Secretary of State for having a little fun?

I am not a fan at all of her. But these photos from the summit is the first time she has actually seemed human to me.

My sentiments exactly.

And GS, you're probably right. I should let far-right blogs and their poorly photoshopped pictures (catering to simpletons) do ALL my thinking for me.

Really though... embrace your autonomy, for chrissakes.

Is that like ruth chris?

Nothing but righteous indignation on the part of all the politicians involved. This is a nothing story and should be treated that way.

It's hard to know what to think of someone who would steal the White House silverware.

As for the SS agents, if they were off duty and prostitution is legal in Cartegena, what's the uproar all about?

The only thing that went one was the chick didn't have a "cash up front" policy. If she'd gotten paid first, everything would be fine. Rookie.

is this just so ingrained in the secret service culture that it won't stop? This sounds like spring break

On Sunday, the day before Mr. Obama arrived in the Netherlands, three agents were sent home by the Secret Service in connection with excessive drinking. One of the agents was found passed out in a hotel hallway after he could not figure out how to get into his room.

The agents, who were part of a counterassault team, had gone out to dinner and continued to drink afterward. The Secret Service has put the agents on leave as it continues to investigate the matter.

I don't think it has anything to do with this admin. I would imagine SS on the Potus detail feel it's a pretty exclusive gig and think they're entitled to blow off some steam. I would also assume this has been allowed for a while and we've just been able to cover it up. Now lots of people want dirt on the US

I wonder if it's always been like this and we never heard about it, or is it because they don't respect this administration.

No, it has been like this forever. These guys spend a lot of time either sitting around waiting for something to happen, or doing liaison with host nation police, intel etc. This is especially true for the type of team these guys were on. The ones actively guarding someone generally have no time to eat, much less to get drunk, but the ones on the counter-strike teams don't have much to do when they are in country. Well, until something happens, then they have to be ready to move quickly. So they work out, drive around to learn the lay of the land, meet (and often drink with) local officials and hang out in their hotel room.

They've disciplined agents in the past for similar transgressions, but they kept it quiet to maintain a public image and out of respect for these men and women who will literally catch a bullet for their VIP. So, for me the fact these stories are coming out speaks to the lack of respect for the Secret Service rather than the other way around.

So is it the White House leaking the stories to the press then? It seems like this would be a matter of national security and should be handled out of the public view unless it's something that directly affects citizens.
