I know that coming into the season, our secondary was an area of concern. How does everyone see it after 3 games?

I think they are playing decent right now. I feel more cofortable now than when they played UAB. They are going in the right direction though. By the latter of the season they ought to be playing pretty good.

I am going to go with very good. we stoped Leak and Russell. Hackney is a beast and that whole game was pretty screwy.

i said good... because until hef's int we didnt have any clutch takeaways... however it is early and theres is a lot of fball to be played but i just think we need to start taking it away and getting more defensive touchdowns

I think they have been good. Stopping some of those third and longs in the UF game would have made them very good. No matter what, they are playing a lot better than they were last year. At least we haven't seen anyone standing wide open in the endzone.

i sais very good. who saw them giving up an average of 206 yards a game after hackney, florida, and lsu.

WE HAVE GIVEN UP JUST 1 PASSING TOUCHDOWN THIS YEAR.

thats just one in three games which is the important stat.

we are tied for second in the ncaa in passing touchdowns given up after playing hackney, leak, and russel. the team in front of us has played montana state, fau, and arkansas state.

Very good. The busted coverages and big plays given up that we saw so often last year have been kept to a minimum. The defense as a whole has just been awsome this year so far.

I went with Good. We havent really been burnt on anything (except maybe that LSU FB). :banghead:

Our Bigtime DL has done so much to add to the stats as well, but not to take away from some great secondary play thus far.

I said good....The LSU game showed us alot of how good our secondary CAN be.....They just need to do some tweaking and we will be fine

gotta be good here. if not very good. hackney, a mid major qb, has dont the best against us. and that was game 1. mr. leak for the most part did squat. and all those all american recievers at lsu had one play, a trick play flea flicker. i say awesome job. a real test will come against georgia and vandy i think. shockley is playing out of his mind. and cutler is probably the front runner for sec player of the year.

take one game at a time.

LSU was 14 - 28 -1 158 0 Take away the Flea Flicker and your looking at 13-27 -1 111 0

Florida was 17 - 26 -0 179 0 Longest pass 24 yards. Only 2 passes over 20 yards

In SEC play UT is 31-54-1 337 0 avg 168.5 yards per game. Only 4 passes over 20 yards.

I'd say they are playing very good

They have improved immensely over last year. There have only been a few busted coverages, and they have kept most verything in front of them this year.

The only really bad plays this year have been the UAB td and the flea flicker.

Where are all the people who said the DB's wouldn't be any better this year than last year? Where are the Putz's hiding?

Watching the replay on the Flea Flicker the DB's did their job and took away the primary receiver but the LBers didn't do their job. Also Davis saw Russell in Trouble and continued his route when it he wasn't suppose to be in the area he caught the ball. Just like the UAB game when most of the completions were due to the LBers not dropping correctly.

...heffney, fellows.

LEARN HOW TO WRAP UP ON THE OPEN FIELD TACKLE!!!

...otherwise I am pleased with the secondary's effort. :matrix:

I thought fellows did a poor job last game against LSU. Anybody see him miss containing the outside that enabled Addai to score on the first run?

If there were an option between average and good, I'd take it. Luckily, we only have two even decent pass offenses on our whole schedule, Florida and Notre Dame. I'm going to say average because Florida rolled over us in third and long.

IMO without Jason Allen and the awesome D-line pass rush, the secondary is mediocre.

Combined together they are very good, but next year when Allen is gone and most of the D-line, I think they are gonna look pretty average.

i put "good" but if i were to compare this secondary unit with last years? i'd have to say very good, everybody has pretty much already proved that on here, i passing td for the whole year is pretty freakin' good i would say. i feel a lot better about them this year than i did last year obviously.

GO VOLS!!!!! :fworks: :fworks: :baloon: :baloon: :cheer: :number1: :3cheers: :td: :td:
