Dave Nathan reported on SportsTalk that either DeAngelo Willingham or Brent Vinson will start at one CB with Marsolous Johnson at the other corner while Berry will move to safety in place of Jarrod Parrish. About time this move happened.

It would be sad if Vinson was handed a starting CB position 4 games into the season. By all means, play people on viturally meaningless games right now, but if he was that good to earn a spot to begin with then why wait till now. Very poor evaluations a foot.

They wanted him at WR because of his downfield threat(he had it at Hargrave and in HS) because we had noone for that. We thought we had decent CBs, at least better than WR. For what it's worth, the Hargrave coaches said from day 1 that he would be a better DB, though he could be a star on both sides.

I realize that hv, but why wait till now?? Why bury him on the WR depth chart just to bring him in for a WR reverse on one play in the Florida game if he is better at CB?? It makes no sense at all. We could have played him from day one at CB had we had any sense really if he's that good.

Yes they did. The sad thing is is that UT had recruited him when he was in high school, then again at Hargrave and did not realize he could not/would not make the transition to WR here.

I hope he becomes a great CB while here, however I find it disheartening that a player they've recruited TWICE they have to move him during the 4th week of the season. That is all

How bout when they were talking about the receivers learning the play book. They said he was "lost out there". That was my first impression of Vinson in camp. I even saw Fulmer himself say that Vinson looked very natural at CB. This was all before the season even started.

It will be huge to me if Vinson gets the start there. Willingham would of course be more expected, and I'm excited about seeing the new defensive backfield. I like Berry more at corner in theory, but maybe he is better at SS right now (better as in better for the team as a whole). I just don't typically like the "flash" of the plays that SS makes...but this defense doesn't give us the privilege of looking for flash.

Maybe by the last game of the season, we'll have everybody playing where they should be. Maybe...

Hopefully MJ will not bite as quick as he seems to have been doing periodically.Those w/r only need 1/2 second and they're gone..........

is M Johnson really worthy of playing the first team CB? I have watched him during all my replays of the games, I just don't see much contribution.

they were heavy on Evans down here in Florida. he was a central florida track prospect to go to arkansas and even tennessee for track as well.......speed is what we need, but quickness is essential. he has put some weight on too. i would like to see what he can do as well.

Might as well test the guys out at new positions this year...get them settled and have solid starters for next season.

I dont think marsalous should be starting.How many times has he been beat already?I think we have a few guys that are better athletes with more talent than him.But it always seems like we have to lose a few games before we can get the best players on the field.

Evans has been a real disappointment in fall camp. Very surprising.

I don't think Johnson has been beaten too many times. The breakdown against USM was a communications issue because he thought Berry was over top. He did get beat by Harvin, though.

Let's see, it took the staff 3 games to switch Vinson. Your right though, Robert Meachem was definitely an all american candidate by his 4th game. Some guys just don't grasp the college game that early. That's the great thing about Urb's offense. As complicated as it is for opposing teams, it is incredibly simple for his own players.

in my opinion no...if M Johnson doesn't play then we take a chance on loosing his brother (R Wilks ) that just committed to us...kinda like when we didn't play Leak and little bro split...i know this shouldn't matter but i believe this is part of the reason he is till back there....my starting 4 for saturday would be Hefney, Berry, Vinson, Willingham

learning the playbook is a bunch of BS....how hard is it to teach a WR to run a 7-10 yard pass route...really?:no:

I'm glad Berry is moving back to safety becasue we need someone who can tackle back there as Hefney sure can't.

running it in the no-huddle? Getting the play called to you from the box to the QB and factoring in Ainge reading the defense and calling route adjustments and snapping the ball in under 25 total seconds? Difficult, I would imagine.

They (by that you meant coaches) did not bury him in the WR depth chart. "He" buried himself on the WR depth chart. The coaches knew with his speed he could add an element to our WR corps that we did not have. Unfortunately, he was not able to pick up the postion like that expected. Your evaluation makes it sound like they knew he was going to fail at WR and proceeded to bury him in the depth chart anyways.
