Second-Year Surge: Quinten Dormady

That dude has been screaming for Dormady since he arrived, there is no convincing him otherwise.

I just hope he as a soft pillow to land on if Dormady doesn't win the starting job in 2017.

Let him use the one that cushioned your noggin when Sheriron transferred. :thud:

I have been high on Dormady because he is a real QB and college ball in general hasn't seen one in a while. Dobbs was needed because we were playing so many freshmen. I appreciate what he has done for U.T. And think he is an outstanding human being and man, but I also think he is one dimensional and predictable on the field and we are in a position where we need more from the QB position. My hope is that Dobbs comes out and shocks me with his advancement in the passing game this season, but sadly my expectations of him are more of the same. I guess I will have to wait and see what we have in him like everyone else.

Dobbs obviously wasn't too predictable last year because it sure seemed like a lot of teams had trouble slowing him down. He may not make a lot of NFL-Caliber passes, but he sure knows how to take a busted play and turn it into a touchdown. QD may turn our passing game into something special, who knows, but people are going to miss Dobb's ability to make jaw-dropping plays with his legs.

Agreed, and you will more than like lose your top 2 RBs to the draft after this year. So teams will be able to guard the pass, because the running will probably drop off a little too. Its not going to be butterflies and bunnys for the next QB, they are going to have to be able to present a well rounded attack and hope the running game is productive enough to take the pressure off the QB. I assume the running backs we have signed can do that but we have to expect some drop off after Hurd and Kamara leave (they are great backs)!!!

Sure, we will miss his athleticism, but it will also be nice to have a QB that can accurately make all the throws

Dobbs 59.6
Dormady 59.1
According to utsports.com

Really what has given you assurance that QD can do that, it isn't his limited playing time. You are going on practice? He had roughly the same Pass % as Dobbs so how does that translate into a "QB that can accurately make all the throws"?

He may be a good passer some day but he hasn't shown enough to dub him a "QB that can accurately make all the throws"

It may not be QD. I think any of the QB's have to be better than Dobbs in the passing game. Even if it's just a slight improvement

Maybe you didn't see Worley, pre Sr year Crompton, Rick Clause etc. We can do a lot worse as far as having a qb that is a good, accurate passer. We hope the new guys will be better. We have had a bunch in the last decade that were worse passing than ball than Dobbs is though.

I am just saying that we don't know any of that. It is way to early to say that Dormady is a better passer than Dobbs, or any other QB on our roster for that matter.

They may end up being in the long run but we have no proof any of them will be better right now!

This is very true, we could be doing a lot worse than Dobbs in the passing game. Just WIN Vols!!! no one will remember his passing accuracy issues if he wins an SEC Championship!! If they do, they are just picking at him, kid has the "IT" factor. I for 1 wouldn't want anyone else leading our team this year.
