SEC told Tennessee not to schedule Baylor?

He actually spoke the truth. All of you going around acting like we can beat anyone and are already preparing to buy national championship tickets will be the same crowd calling for CBJ's head if we lose a game in 2016. I am excited about our future but we are in no spot to act like we could just go in there and beat Baylor. He is referring to the fact that times have changed and power has shifted. Baylor is an elite team right now whether you want to believe it or not. This story is a joke but if we did schedule them we would be stupid. I am looking forward to our future but some of you are just plain dumb.

lol, 2 years.. Not tomorrow. Compare recruiting.. will the same team we have be here in 2016? No will the same team baylor has be there in 2016? No.

Don't even start. Baylor is one of those schools that never shows up with highly recruited classes. Yet, they manage to develop a lot of 4th and 5th year seniors. Meanwhile, we can't wait to put another bunch of true freshmen on the field next season. You people need to get their heads out of their behinds. We should win 7 or 8 next season but we are not championship calibre

I doubt this is true. 1 SEC office can't move the mouth from Sabans genitals long enough to say anything from anyone else. 2. Tennessee now has enough sense running the football program not to schedule TWO power 5 non con games from the same conference to boot. 3. Baylor hasn't looked all that good when Petty is out. Don't think they really want to buy out of SMU. Lip service.

An over looked factoid is that Dave hart's boy is the AD at SMU. Dave is an idiot and would schedule both Baylor and OU in the same year. This is likely a try story whether our idiot fans want to believe it or not.

Says the guy talking about baylors #1 offense in 2014... how is the 98' national championship relevant to anything I said? What does baylor beating Oklahoma in 2014 have anything to do with 2 years from now? who cares about RG3? Nice attempt at trying to make yourself seem like you know what you're talking about with your 13 posts. We better damn sure NEVER play UCF then since they beat beat Baylor last season....

Someone didn't get what they wanted for Christmas.

You need to relax.

With input from the HC. He doesn't rule over who the team plays, it's a partnership.
This may be true now, however, Phillip Fulmer was famous for publicly lamenting the non-conference schedule we were playing during the final 6-7 years of his tenure and how he wished he had more input into these scheduling decisions. You may recall we were playing home/home series with the likes of Notre Dame, Miami, Cal, and UCLA, just to name a few during this time.

If it's a partnership it isn't necessarily an equal one.

This is just so dumb. Our fan base is so delusional right now. Do I think we are on a great trajectory? Absolutely, and I am extremely pumped. But I would love for anyone to tell me what basis there is for a statement like this? Because we won a NC in '98? Because we are in the SEC?

Like c'mon, can we all just take a second and TRY to be honest with ourselves. Baylor has the #1 offense in the nation, arguably should have been in the CFBPlayoff, and hosed an Oklahoma team that beat our Vols relatively handily. Does anybody even remember the fact that they had RGIII, and were more relevant than us even before Bryce Petty?

Am I insane? We have pulled in some great recruiting classes and all of the sudden a Baylor team that was inches from the CFBPlayoff is an easy W in 2016? Please tell me this isn't what everyone else thinks? Surely I'm not the only one who feels this comment is absurd with no proof ON THE FIELD (as of yet).

I think it's called having faith in our coaches and players. I mean, I get what you're saying, but why don't you relax?

Welcome to the Internet where people get to have their opinion and share it. It turns out you don't have to like it.

Wth is wrong with everyone? Christmas was two days ago. You all standing in line for returns?

GBO! :rock::rock:

Why does BU want to buyout SMU anyway ? UT would have to buyout Bowling Green and LP Field plus play a road game

Exactly, this is just another propaganda story that cites no sources. Just conjecture. There is too much money in NCAA football media when false stories like this are floating around.

New scheduling guidelines, all "Big 5" conference must schedule at least one OOC with another "Big 5" conference team.

Oh and Baylor missed the playoffs due to weak OOC schedule.

I think they are also supposed to phase out FCS games too, although that will decimate the revenue streams of some smaller programs like UTC, UTM, Jacksonville state, etc...More UABs program collapses ahead?

Tennessee should be scheduling the top out of conference teams annually. Oregon, Ohio state, FSU, USC, Clemson, Michigan state.

Once again I'm not talking about next season... Some people just don't read lol.

We do schedule a top OOC team every year. IMO we don't need to schedule two.

Why not? There is literally no negative to aging quality teams, it only makes our team better and we now have the talent to beat anyone in the country. Do we have the coaching?

if it's true, should of told the SEC to take a hike be a good game to schedule plus it would make our schedule that much better in the eyes of the playoff committee if we was to be in the scenario.

Don't ever post that in here! According to most we are in our prime right now and have no chance of beating a good team in the future.

I'm sure that once UAB dropped their team, lots of schools sent inquiries to UT about getting on the schedule. Maybe Baylor was one of them. I doubt it went very far. When was the last time the Vols scheduled 2 ooc teams from power conferences in the regular season?

It's been a while since UT had 2 P5 conf. games in the same season. UF and UGA have recently. UGA played Clemson and GT this year and UF played Miami and FSU last season.

I checked and in the early 2000's , we played Duke and Miami (then an Ind but certainly a national power) and Syracuse and ND in the same season. Until Vandy moves out of the SEC and into a Power 5 conference (joke, everyone) I don't think we'll be seeing 2 ooc Power 5 games.
