SEC Standings after 5 weeks

I'd be crowing too; this is the apex of Kentucky football for anybody alive. Shout it from the rooftops while you can, before you have LSU and Florida back-to-back.

EDIT: I don't mean that as a shot. I think this is UK's best chance to beat UT since I was in middle school, and that was a long time ago. If the game were next weekend, I'd expect the line to be something like UK -4.5.

Good for you, maybe this will be a special season for KY. Then again don't get too excited, just yet.....

W over Eastern KY - Unlike most of America, I know where that is, it's in the eastern part of KY.
W over Kent State - They play football?
W over Louisville -Good win
W over Arkansas - They have a running back named McFadden, what else? Decent win though (SEC opponent).
FL Atl - I didn't know FL had teams other than FL, FL St Miami & S. Fl (never thought I'd have to include the last team).

With this crazy weekend, you are riding high, with good reason (I guess, see above opponents), but c'mon it's KY football, sure you can have a MIRACLE season, but face it, KY will never have a football team that will have multiple successful seasons.

With all that said, enjoy where you stand, as of today. I'm actually envious (OMG shoot me, I'm addrresing this to KY fan).

prediction. Kentucky goes 2-1 through the brutal 3 game stretch of LSU, Florida, and South Carolina.

This is a once every 20 year season for Kentucky. You guys really need to enjoy this year as you have all the pieces in place.

Next year I'm affraid it's back to reality for the Cats so you better give us your best shot in November, because soon back to the cellar you go.

Agree the road is getting a bit bumpy and add a few pot holes ahead and they go 1 and 2 at best.

They will lose to LSU for sure, unless something strange happens between now and then. Fla is more talented and South Carolina has a better coach. 1-2 at best seems about right.

Great season for KY. I don't mind them having some success, as long as we return to our place in the natural pecking order after this season;

Did anyone else see Desmond Howard put UK in his top 5 last night? Wow.

Yeah I saw that and that was what I said WOW. If they beat LSU,Fl. and USC I could MAYBE see it but I just dont think that will happen...

The thing I dread the most is that this pounding of each other in the east continues and we make a mediocre run where we wind up at or near the top. We skate by in mediocrity and place a decent bowl and this somehow gets justified to retain the coaching services of the current staff. Does it come to everyone else losing and everyone in parity to save the current football coaching staff?

I see UK going 2-1. They are better than USCe. Florida's D made Brandon Cox look like a great QB, Woodson will have a field day.

So what are the chances of UK garnering a top 10 ranking when the new poll comes out? When was the last time that happened?

I'd venture a guess that, discounting the Ramsey years where they were on probation for cheating, Babe and Bear had some hand in it.

Wow, are some of you guys enjoying those sour grapes? Come on. You have a 25-year winning streak over the poor Cats. Sour grapes are unbecoming of fans of a proud, storied program such as UT. If anything, a new power in the conference makes things interesting, rather than the boring year-in, year-out UGA, UF, and UT at the top.

And unless a major probation hits, I don´t see a return back to the cellar. CRB changed the culture at Oregon, and is doing the same at UK. He´s building a program on solid, fundamental smashmouth, power SEC football. We also have an AD who is committed to building a football power, not just being basketball only.

But then, I don´t expect you all to cheer for the turnaround in Lexington. I just hope the boys in Blue continue to win your respect. 3 years ago, I started posting here when we were finishing 2-9. Most of you thought it was amusing that a UK football fan actually took the program more seriously than roundball. But I´m still here, 1200 posts later, because I believe that a change in the SEC balance of power is happening.

Sorry for the pulpit pounding, but it IS Sunday. :p

I'm glad UK is doing good. However, many people feel that when Woodson leaves there goes UK's program.

Maybe. Remember, Woodson was a 7-TD, 10-plus INT fumbling machine 2 years ago. Then Randy Sanders got hold of him. The rest is history. Sanders is a darn good QB coach.

and here comes the masses. Before this gets ugly, I'll restate my opinion: Brian McCat just nailed this one.
