Anyone else old enough to remember when the SEC reached out to Miami and FSU before USCe and Arkansas?

I remember hearing they didn’t want to get beat up during the season before bowl games because their bowl games decided NC’s for them?

SEC bylaws say that any member school can block an in state rival from joining...which means Clemson and GT can only get in IF USCjr and UGA approve. Unless they throw out that rule anyway...
