I know that many of you like the current configuration, but who would yall like to see in the SEC in the event that Kentucky, Vandy, or another SEC chose to leave. Completely theoretical, but just interesting in hearing what you guys think, so dont get all bent out of shape about it. :laugh1:

We actually had this discussion once before. I think the consensus was West Virginia or Louisville.

Assuming that you had to choose someone not in a BCS conference already. :laugh1: Louisville and WVU might stay in the Big East, even if offered.

No doubt. They'd be crazy to pass up a BCS bowl every single year.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd say Louisville has more in common with the SEC than WV. At least they already have a rivalry with one SEC team (KY), and WV's traditional rivals are teams like Penn State and Pitt.

Plus it'd be cool to see Tuberville vs. Petrino. Bet the Auburn boosters would be nervous as hell before that encounter at mid-field after the game concludes.

Then I'd have to say Notre Dame. :D

I think it depends on which team left. Not only would losing an UGA or 'bama or UF type team hurt the SOS, but the location of the schools is also pretty big. You cant have 7 teams in the east and 5 from the west.

I don't see why the SEC would dip down into C-USA teams. The SEC is best conference in the nation, and because of that they should choose among better teams. I personally think WVU or Louisville would be a good idea, but also maybe Virginia, Miami, FSU, Clemson, or UNC. It seems like it would make sense for Kentucky to be in the ACC with all the other basketball schools, and in tern we could get a better football school that would fit in more wit the SEC.

Miami or FSU....that would turn into a GREAT rivalry...Call me crazy but I would like to see those two teams or one of them in the SEC if someone was to leave.

Id doubt Ga Tech would ever want to come back to the SEC?
But so much has changed, I dont believe they could be very happy in the ACC.

I've heard it was said, in years past, that leaving was ther biggest mistake.(revenue wise) Of course the ACC just got a big boost. I was throwing them out there because of some graet games back in the 80s (Fuad)

Between all those teams...

Southern Miss. I mean, they're C-USA but they're the best team in the state of Mississppi.

I've heard that there is some behind the scenes action trying to get Arky back in the West (Big 12 or whatever they are now). Also, Bammer fans think they should start their own conference or at least leave the SEC (who would sink without the Tahd). Anyway I go for UAB to replace bammer and GaTech to replace Arky. Now, back to my whiskey  :toast:

No . . . Hawaii would never work. Can you imagine the annual traffic jam there would be in San Diego filled with RV's with "Roll Tide" bumper stickers driving around aimlessly looking for the bridge?

I was going to say Ga Tech, if it was an east team that left, and a university with a good law school to help out bama next time around, but GAVol, you have changed my mind, I say Hawaii too!

Hawaii is a good one. Lost Bammers in southern California and leis, mai tais and pina colada's for the rest of us.

I mean, can you blame USC for scheduling a game at Hawaii? It ain't about strength of schedule, it's all about location!

Dang right! They say they have "everything to lose" by playing UAB, but then proceed to say that they have absolutely no doubts that they would win the game because UAB is "junior varsity" level.
