SEC refs

There was also a blatant pick play by OU that was not called. Then the failure to call PI on a play the ref was not even looking at the play, the WR and DB were behind ref and he was out of position and looking back to line of scrimmage as ball went over his head.

This game has been an absolute masterclass in ****** officiating, but these teams are also not good. I was somewhat concerned about OU coming into Neyland later in the year, but after watching this game I’ll be annoyed if we don’t run them out of the building. Ugly, ugly football.
OU is good at uglying up the game. We’re probably going to see that next week as well vs Miss State. I want to see how we handle a qb that can run and extend drives.

Who gives a sh@@ about Auburn? How many times over the last decade did we lose kids at the last minute to Aubie after some shady last minute deal? They aren't our allies. Their are Bammers with a few less teeth and imaginary national titles.
Wow what happened to "The enemy of my enemy is my friend"? Freeze plays pretty clean football. Venables is a sleezebag.

OU coaching staff ran a illegal play that is a rule in the book. Why do they have an illegal play in their playbook, seems odd? Can they be fined or sanctioned. I know after the game Sankey quoted the rule they broke and this inept crew totally missed the illegal play. I do not like either team but if refs can catch a lineman illegally 5 yards down field in a mass of players moving and throw a flag how can they miss a player faking running off the field and stopping at the sideline. This was a total fubar of a game.
Only two reasosns an illegal play would be in their playbook and both are bad. 1. Did not know it is illegal, and that is bad. 2. They knew it and tried to use it anyways, wihich is trying to cheat. I can't think of any other reason it would be in their playbook.

On some plays, it appears you might be correct. SEC refs are as bad as nigh school refs. Out of position and blind.
Don’t forget dishonest.

They’re OK getting it wrong. Any ref would tell you that much if they could ever admit to making a mistake.
OU Plays dirty. I watched that game. Illegal pics on every pass play, holding on defense. Blatant. Their Coach cheats to win.
That’s how Clemson beat Alabama. Illegal screen play.

Is there a clear definition of what a “hideout tactic” is? I remember a crazy play about 20 years ago, where an Arkansas RB squatted behind the offensive line, so the defense couldn't see him. Arky handed the ball off to him and he ran in for a TD.

Is a player hiding behind the o-line now considered a “hideout tactic?”

Not sure about that, but the OU player acted as if he was leaving the field as a substitution and then stood just inside the field like he was on the sideline, then took off at the snap for an easy TD.

Yes. That was obviously supposed to be a penalty.

We did something somewhat similar with Hyatt a few years ago.

It's not cheating. It's taking advantage of bad officiating. It's kind of like an umpire giving Greg Maddux 6" off the plate and him continuing to throw the ball there.

There was one pick play that was the most blatant I think I've ever seen and it wasn't flagged because the "picker" held his hands out like he was expecting to catch the pass--obviously choreographed. At the very least should have been flagged for poor acting!

If you are watching the OU / AU game thoughts of how poor the officiating is? First pulled 6 off the board for AU scoop and score. Now they did a no call on an obvious PI at the goal line. I guess the oil money flows in Norman?
Although I wanted Auburn to win, I had to hope OK would win for the better of UT opponents. However, the lack of PI calls on OK was unbelievable. Auburn got screwed! :cool:o_O

Auburn got screwed. But given the absurd home cooking they've received in JHS for years, I could not possibly care less if they take it hard on the road.

Setting Illegal Picks is Cheating any way you slice it. Okie obviously teaches it. Deliberately Breaking any of the rules is cheating. I saw one receiver backing up all the way to the end line to block defenders.
