BOP1 has inspired me. But not to copy a Top 25, I'm just going to rank the SEC teams 1-12 and offer a little commentary. The rankings are pretty much going to be based on what they have done and if two teams are close who I think would win if they played on the blue turf of Boise (aka, a neutral site).

So here we go.....

1. Bama - Survived their first test of the year in a tough enviornment for big games. They are good. Any team that can run the ball like they can makes me like watching them, even if they are Bama.

2. Florida - The offense is finally showing some life. They may have the best secondary in the country. I still don't think they can beat Bama.

Note - 3 through 6 could be argued about any way and I wouldn't have many debate against it.

3. LSU - I really didn't want to rank them this high as I think their offense is atrocious and their offensive coaching is even worse, but they're defense is legit and their special teams is scary good. If Cunningham kicks the ball within half a field of Peterson Saturday he should be shot.

4. Arkansas - I have no real reason to rank them this high. Perhaps I have been seduced by their offense and Mallet. Alas, I am. I genuinely think they would beat Auburn on a neutral site.

5. Auburn - I really don't want to like this team. Really. At all. They nearly lost to Clemson at home. Their offense still seems like a gimmick magic trick to me. But, they are 4-0 and beat SC.

6. SC - Personally, I still like them more than Auburn. Alas, Auburn beat them and I will adhere to the rules. I don't think this team is going to have their annual collapse this year. 9 wins is a definite possibility. And don't count them out against Bama.

Note - 7 and 8 could go in either order as well.

7. Mississippi State - I don't think it's possible to build a powerhouse in Starkville, but Mullen is going to have this team as a legit annual 7-9 win team, which for the Bulldogs should be considered a major success. They have a good chance at 8 wins this year.

8. Kentucky - Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think Mississippi State is better than them. They've got a couple of great playmakers, but I think overall they are a team that is living on a lot more hype than actual results.

And the rest of the bunch.......

9. UGA - This team really, really reminds me of UT circa 2005. A lot of people think AJ Green being back is going to solve their problems. I disagree. They have a lot of issues.

10. Tennessee - See any of the 10,000 threads in the Football forum for why they are here. Still think they can beat teams 8-12.

11. Vandy - At least their coach is entertaining.

12. Ole Miss - You lose to a FCS team and Vandy, you are in the cellar for a while.
