SEC QB Tiers

Good Lord Georgia gets so much love and benefit of the doubt over whoever the hell their QB is.

They can literally pick a name out of the hat, and it’s like the glowing reviews are pre-written with <insert name here>.
I'm not sure about the love but I'm certain the article's proofreading gets an F in Athens.

"The Bulldogs are the favorites, once again, to win the SEC east although he’ll have to rely on a young receiving corpse with the loss of talented WR George Pickens this spring."

Dang, now they have zombies on their team...

JT Daniels is unbelievably overrated

Yep. As was Jamie Newman, as was Stetson Bennett, as was D’wan Mathis, as was Jake Fromm, and so on…. All of them were “Heisman candidates” at one point, Newman never even played a game, they were even trying to pump up pathetic Stetson Bennett for a while.

Don’t forget Jacob Eason.

Ironically, the only legitimately good QB they’ve had that was worth the hype was Justin Fields 😂

I'll agree, Jamie Newman was overhyped. After he quit, Bennett and Matthis were not overhyped among most reasonable observers, including most Georgia fans. We knew that a former walk-on (Bennett) and a guy (Matthis) who was at risk to never even play again after having surgery to remove a brain cyst during his first spring on campus, and practiced very little until the 2020 season started, weren't likely to be successful major college qb's, much less be a "Heisman candidate".

But, your label of Stetson Bennett as "pathetic" is a cheap shot at a gutsy player. He's a very good athlete and even a "good" quarterback, within the limitations of his physical ability. After the Auburn game, Stetson played with an injury and a plastic stent that held two fingers together on his throwing hand. Fans rooting for a normal kid, 5'11", 190 lbs, just doing his best doing his best under those circumstances is what makes college football fun. I guess you consider an amateur athlete like that pathetic, and worship somebody like Aaron Hernandez.

From a performance standpoint, Bennett was terrible, if you prefer that over pathetic. It wasn’t a cheap shot, the guy was horrible in the games I watched, specifically against Florida.

And no, I don’t worship Aaron Hernandez, no more than you worship Terreal Bierria.

Former UGA player charged with murder

As far as I know, Terreal Bierria was never accused of any atrocities while he was at UGA. Hernandez (and Reggie Nelson) were implicated in serious violence while at UF but the case was dropped after the witness "recanted".

And, I'm not the one going around calling players doing their best trying to play while injured "pathetic". That's what I call pathetic.

He was accused of murder. Would you like me to run down a list of Georgia football players arrested during their time at UGA or after? There are a ton. Bacarri Rambo recently arrested for rape, 6 Georgia players arrested in 2019 alone, and on and on.

We all have bad apples, Hernandez was certainly that and then some. Every program in the SEC has had embarrassing and extremely serious crimes committed by current and former players.

This is the problem with most Georgia fans; zero self-awareness. You don’t realize your program hasn’t won a National title in 40+ years and you sit on your high horse and pass judgement on Aaron Hernandez while you’ve got rapists and murderers from your own program.

Stetson Bennett, while probably a fine young man and gritty competitor, sucks. He’s not an SEC quarterback. If that hurts your sensibilities, too bad. You take that legitimate criticism and turn it into an Aaron Hernandez referendum. Worry about your own criminals before you take a shot at someone else’s.

And another thing… You Georgia fans have no problem criticizing Florida players or other players from the SEC. You people ridiculed Feleipe Franks unmercifully. You slander Brenton Cox because he had the gall to transfer from Georgia to Florida. You slander Cade Mays and his family for transferring to Tennessee.

But we’re all supposed to sit back and just politely applaud Stetson Bennett’s grit and determination because he’s a fearless Georgia Bulldog? Nah, I think I’ll just call it like I see it instead.

Sorry if my comments were unclear. I wasn't criticizing Florida fans in general; they're a mix of good and bad like every other fan base. I was criticizing you specifically. But when your response manages to conflate "your program hasn’t won a National title in 40+ years" and "you sit on your high horse and pass judgement on Aaron Hernandez", I realize it's a futile debate. Apologies to volfreak for this off topic exchange and please delete my posts in this thread as you see fit.

But when your response manages to conflate…

Interesting take, because you were the one who conflated my legitimate, warranted and honest criticism of Stetson Bennett’s play to my “worshipping” Aaron Hernandez. Remember that? That’s what got us here.

You can solve the issue…just don’t post here anymore!

If they didn't convince Arik Gilbert to enroll, that description might have been accurate. lol

If Daniels is healthy, he has NFL arm talent. I hate Georgia too, but that kid is good. I really wanted him at Tennessee.

It’ll be interesting to see how Haynes King does at aTm, given that he was almost a Vol.

I'm fairly certain UGA fans are aware of our last national championship. I'm less aware of what that has to do with Aaron Hernandez.
