SEC Power rankings, what SEC teams impressed...

As much as it pains me to admit, UF was quite impressive. If they stay healthy they will be a contender for the SEC and playoff.

Offensively, yes. Defensively, they were pretty porous.

Alabama did what Alabama does, not really impressive but consistent and expected.

Miss State was very impressive. I don't care how much LSU lost, they still had a much better stocked roster than Miss State. Miss State was 33 points better on the road last week than they were at home last year vs the Tigers.

Auburn beat Kentucky fairly easily but Kentucky has gotten okay at making sure they beat Vandy/Ole Miss etc they struggle mightily against the big dogs in the conference. Not a real surprise they lost.

Georgia shocked me against Arkansas early but seemingly righted the ship and pulled away. That's how good teams beat bad teams even when things start out bad. Honestly, looking at Arkansas' schedule they have a legit shot at going 0-10 this year even if they are better than last year.

A&M's struggles give me more hope for that game. No top 7 team in the league should struggle with this Vandy team. On the flip side, impressed that Vandy was able to keep it that close. All the Mond turnovers were the reason but I think there's a good chance Vandy goes 0-10 this year but if they play defense as well as week one they might pull a surprise or two.

Ole Miss was good on offense but stunk it up on defense. If we can score like that on Florida we should be able to win that game. They have a whole season to fix the defense before we play them though. But you look back and Ole Miss had similar games last year vs Bama and LSU and it wasn't uncommon for them to bleed points away even to bad teams. They gave up around 30 to SE Louisiana and 38 to a really bad Missouri team last year. I would just guess Lane hasn't been able to fix there defense as much as Florida is going to average 50 a game.

Agree to a point, but it is an athletic defense, the sort that has the potential to gel together over the course of a season. But yes, on that Saturday the O was much more prolific

Mookie, you've probably put LSU too high; they seem kitten weak this season as a result of bleeding away all their experience. They'll recover this weekend a bit with a win over Vandy, but that won't mean they're good.

And I think you're going to see Bama and Florida give A&M a 1-2 series of knockout punches this weekend and the next, from which they will not recover in 2019.

So I would've put the Vols in the #6 spot. Ready to rise to #5 after Auburn beats Georgia this weekend, or vice-versa.

That's assuming we take care of business against Mizzou Saturday, of course. We don't have to win huge, we just have to win.

It's not a power ranking if I think about the future of TAMU's schedule and if they lose a game in the next few weeks or if I look at whether I feel Auburn will beat Georgia or not. If I did that, then doing a Power Ranking would be pointless. It's "What Have You Done For Me Now" not "What Might You Do For Me Later."

I know we're on a Tennessee board, but based on Week 1 results there is little reason to say Tennessee is better than LSU unless I'm putting on my orange-tinted glasses. I try to keep things pragmatic and call it as I see it even if people call me a nega-vol or something dumb like that. We struggled to beat a middling USCjr. and LSU lost to arguably the second best offense in the SEC (after one week).

I didn't think that we necessarily struggled, we didn't dominate but once we got the lead I always felt like we'd win. It was a little nerve racking being tied at 21 but that only lasted for 4 plays.

I mean we definitely struggled, but that's not unexpected. It was an unusual fall camp and there wasn't really a spring practice either. Our secondary got torched by Shi Smith, Guarantano missed some throws, our OL didn't run block that well, etc.

All of that is fixable, but I'm just being frank about how I feel about Week 1.

I agree with you, and I also think KY is better than A&M, but Ole Miss is better than KY. Ole Miss's defense is pretty bad, but I think they have too much firepower on offense for KY to keep up.

I don't really disagree with any of your picks it's all opinion. I'm excited really because in pretty recent year's past we've all been arguing if we were the worst team in the conference or not, tough decade!

I'm curious to see how Trask and FL do this weekend vs the USCjrs secondary. I think South Carolina's defense is gonna be decent to good vs the pass all season. It'll give us a good feel for where we stack up and just how good or bad our passing offense might be.

We gave awaya 14 point lead.

Then with 2 possessions we couldn't get in the endzone to ice the game or kick a fg to make them play for a tie at best after we retook the lead.

Had we gotten another 1st down and been able to run out the clock on our last drive, I maybe wouldn't say It was a struggle. As it was a 1 possession game and we needed a turnover on special teams with about 1:30 remaining. . . . . I call that a struggle.

I'm with you that USCe's secondary might make our win look better with a strong showing against Florida.
