SEC Opponents

The best thing that can happen for the Vols in the Fla-Mich game is for it to be close and for Michigan to win.

We see a Florida team that is sub par at QB, is missing a number of players that will presumably be available for Tenn, including the starting RB, and the game is at Michigan. I have not seen the entire game, but I saw enough to think Florida is going to be a tough game for us. The last thing we need is to go to Gainesville underestimating the Gators. If today's game is close, when Michigan has several advantages, maybe our players will take the Florida game as seriously as we should.

Of course, we need to take GT seriously, as well.

I'm not sure McElwain makes it beyond this season to be honest. They put a terrible product on the field. Certainly not what Gator fans are accustomed to.

And he seems to not have control of the program off the field either. He is always suspending players.

I think a bad season could seal it for him. He reminds me a lot of Zook.

UF is not ready for prime time. By the way, those baby crap yellow uniforms on Michigan look like baby crap.

USCe is better than I expected. They actually have an offense.

KY and USM looked evenly matched. I'm not sure what that means.

Missouri is officially the high school champions in Missouri. Whooooopee.

TO FOLLOW:

ASU will test GA.
BYU is an upset special in Baton Rouge. We'll see how wrong I am.
The Criminal Tide and Criminoles will be a test of wills. I expect 'bama to eke it out.

They are calling Chubb and Michel Thunder and Lightning. Hey, wait a minute!

Anyway, they are looking pretty good and will be dangerous.

I've been watching the game and what I see is a good, not great, SEC defense, and another inept offense by Florida. Of course, I'm a bid jaded in watching the game. My biggest problem watching the game is which team to be for.

Don't have to be "for" anybody, just ALWAYS be against Florida....please remember that.

Still early in the game for UGa, but it's pretty clear that either App State 2017 isn't nearly as plucky as App State 2016, or UGa 2017 is significantly better than Vols 2016.

That's the bad news.
Here's another bad news: their backup QB, Fromm, looks legit.
Another bad news: Chubb is back to fully-strapped-in stud runner status.

A (small) good news: UGa's defense is not looking particularly disciplined. And surprisingly, some of them aren't hustling to the ball, just kind of jogging around.

But this is definitely our competition for the East.

I still think it's a challenge marching into the Swamp and pulling out a W, even as ugly as Florida looked today in their opener.

But the real challenge for Team 121 is the Dawgs, it seems so far.

After watching a couple of our East opponents, what do some of you think. As much as it pains me to say Florida and SC look pretty solid for their first games. As usual, Florida has tremendous speed. Thoughts?

NCST destroyed SCAR on total yards and first downs but turnovers hurt them bad.

Skai Moore got hurt, not sure how bad.

Eason hurt knee today. Kind of scares me, I think Frome is a better QB.

Florida- Still searching for a QB, oline looks suspect, defense is good but not great.

UGA- looks the part but if Eason can't go it may hurt them a lot. Fromm was just chucking the ball up and luckily his guys got it. That won't work come SEC play.

USCe- Didn't see as much of it. QB looked ago, looks like they gave up a lot of points.

Missouri- Good QB decent offense but no defense.

Its a little more simple than that. App state is exactly what many of us knew, a decent but not very good team. A team we should have curbstomped last year the way UGA is doing now.

Beating Georgia, Florida and South Carolina is gping to be extremely tough. Especially if our defense doesn't improve significantly.

Muschamp messed up by not sticking with his starting QB. Their defense looks good. Offense was okay but QB will be tough.

UGA fans got their wish of getting to see Fromm. He looked good and they are loaded with talent. They always underachieve though.

Alabama looks the same as last year.

How does Bama look the same? Their defense doesnt look anywhere near as dominant.

Not watching them closely because they are boring to watch. I don't know though. They still look really talented against the #3 preseason team.

But I'll take it if we see any step back from Bama.

UK and Southern Miss seem to be an even match, even tho UK won today. Both teams could pose a problem for the vols.

Ok, not sure how old Richt got in here, doesn't he coach Miami an ACc team? Not being smart but I only worry about the SEC.
