Nothing that we don't already know.

The good news is that everyone is back. The bad news is this is the same line that was incredibly inconsistent last year in the run game, as Tennessee ranked 116th in rushing offense. However, the staff feels it has a better lineup with the emergence of sophomore Antonio Richardson at left tackle. Stud Dallas Thomas moves to left guard and Ja'Wuan James, who has started 25 games at right tackle, provides some good stability. The line has 99 combined starts and allowed just 18 sacks last year, but the proving ground with this group is establishing that it can come off the ball and be a better running team.

1.Alabama
2.LSU
3.Texas A & M
4.Arkansas
5.South Carolina
6.Tennessee
7.Missouri
8.Auburn
9.Mississippi St.
10.Florida
11.Georgia
12.Vanderbilt
13.Kentucky
14.Ole Miss

BTW 18 sacks ranks us 34th in the nation in that category. I don't think that is to bad considering how much we had to pass.

18 sacks lat year is especially impressive given that our QBs are about as mobile as nursing home patients.

Pretty sure we ranked #1 in the SEC at sacks per pass attempt. I think our line will be one of the best in the SEC this year, but I can understand skepticism until actually seeing it after the results of the past 5+ years.

As long as C and RG get settled, then I think we should have a good line.

National championships are won in the trenches. 6th isn't bad after our complete inability to run block last year. The experience is there now, and that is key.

I guess 6th is respectable given our lack of a running game last year. Hopefully these guys can get it together!

I am perplexed to how we are not in the top 25. ESPN has our line ranked at 6th in the SEC, our wrs/te at 1 SEC, and our QB at #3 in the SEC. Even if we had no running game again it would seem we should still break the top 25. Georgia Tech in the ACC is projected at 25 preseason ranking. Makes no sense to me. How can a team with a top QB, WR, OL, and TE in the SEC not be ranked higher than a team with nothing in the ACC.

5-7, 7-6, 6-7, 5-7...that's why.

Don't worry, if the Vols win the rankings will come.

More importantly, UT is picked to have the 2nd best OL in the East; while Georgia, who many of the pundits think is the favorite to win the division is ranked 5th in the division and 11th in the league. Hard to win in this league if you don't win the battle in the trenches. I'm not overly familiar with UGA's OL, but if they have a lot of question marks up front, they are going to be very vulnerable against a good pass rush. Hope Coach Sal is up to the challenge.

I'm thinking this could be the year for the line. It takes time to build strength. Present-day me would throw the me from two years ago around like a rag doll. Same with these guys we have. I'm optimistic!

Hope the new coaching can make a difference and we can eliminate the muffed snaps. And for Pete's sake, make those 4th and 1 QB sneaks.
