Spears and McElroy each put together their ultimate depth chart of SEC players. Rather than post the whole depth chart here I'll just get to the stuff that matters:

-Neither had Dobbs as their 1 or 2 QB. Picked Prescott and Jennings from LSU (very surprising).

-Neither had Hurd as their RB; Chubb and Fournette (not too surprising).

-Spears put Khalil as his starting DL.

-McElroy put Barnett as his starting DE.

They weren't allowed to pick the same player, but I definitely got the vibe they both wanted Barnett. Spears picked Garret as his DE but when he was talking about Khalil he kept blowing up Barnett. I think if possible they both would have picked Barnett.

-No mention of Cam Sutton for DB (surprising).

Well, it also wasn't a true depth chart. It was basically just an "Ultimate Starting Roster" and they should have picked multiple guys at each position, like they did the QB.

One of them should should have taken Dobbs with their 2nd QB pick though, no doubt.

Prescott was taken first by Spears and then McElroy took Jeremy Johnson. They then had to select a back up from a list that did not include Dobbs, it had to be from one of the schools that has not settled on a starting QB.

I don't think leaving off Cam is too surprising. I don't think that Cam is valued outside quite near where he is by the fan base. This is the main reason I think he will be back next year. He could have a really great year numbers wise and that could put him on the map, but without some crazy numbers of INT's I think he is back.

Simply not true at all...nfl scouts know a lot about him

Hopefully this coming season will change the SEC network analysts thoughts on the top RB's in the SEC. Hurd is easily a top 5 back in terms of talent, but isn't because of a struggling o-line.

Off topic: Why do ya'll always want our guys to come back for their 4th season? I personally love it when guys can leave early for the NFL. They can actually get paid for their labor finally. Some of ya'll care more about getting another year of service from these kids than about their best interest.

I hope Cam and Marquez leave early next year and become 1st round picks.

I don't have a problem with the picks. Chubb and Fournette have earned the consideration as the top 2 backs in the SEC for now.

It's a tough spot. You want the best for them, but you want the Tennessee Volunteers to field an excellent football team. Are you glad Peyton came back his senior year?

Too young to remember that far back. Rather than just looking at things from the perspective of a selfish fan, I try to put myself in the athlete's position. And if I was the athlete, I'd much rather be playing for money than free.

NFL $couts are paying (pun intended) attention. Fans don't matter.

I agree with this but I think he is badly undervalued outside of our fan base. He's kind of at that catch-22 of corners right now where no one will throw to him. I will say I remember at SEC Media Days they did an interview with Vernon Hargreaves and they said (to paraphrase) "You get a lot of attention for being the best corner back in the SEC, who do you think would be you're biggest challenger for that spot?" and Hargreaves said Cam Sutton.

He gets his recognition. Just not on the big scale I think.

Some players want to complete their degree, though. I think something like 70 percent of ex nfl athletes are broke within a few years of retirement. Most will need an income outside of football. So statistically speaking, it's likely in the best interests of most players to stay at least until they complete their degrees.
