Skai Moore is a good player...will miss 2016 though
Prolific SEC linebacker prospect Skai Moore is out for the 2016 season - CBSSports.com
Randolph played more games for Tennessee than any player in the program's storied history. However, this may be an example of addition by subtraction with the guys we have in the rotation. Experience at the safety position will be diminished but the upgrade in speed and play-making may far surpass what's been seen in the last couple years.
At UT's pro day, Randolph clocked a 4.4 along with 31 reps of 225 on the bench. How many of our current safeties can run under 4.4?
I don't have a clue why so many devalue Randolph. Was he on Eric Berry's level - no. Was he a solid SEC safety for 4 1/3 years - absolutely! Every Vol player isn't going to be a high round NFL draft pick - doesn't mean they weren't a valuable contributor while in college. I don't see any Eric Berry's among our current safeties either. We won the Natty in '98 without a top 5 NFL draft safety.
I watched the replay and saw at least 4, maybe 5 Dobbs passes that should have been intercepted. Had it not been for the strip in the last minute of the game we very easily could have lost that game. For the most part, SC shut down our running game in the 2nd half because they had no fear of the pass. If that doesn't improve our expectations are going to be crushed.
Randolph will not be missed one bit. solid player but whoever starts will be a better athlete and make more plays.
Again I ask which safety in the current 2 deep runs a sub 4.4 and can do 30 reps on the bench? Those are 2 accepted measurements of athleticism. If the current group of safeties are so much more athletic than Randolph, then they should easily be able to top those numbers? Besides possibly Evan Berry (who isn't being listed on the 2 deep at the moment), who specifically runs a sub 4.4 forty? Besides TKJr, which of them can even get close to 30 bench reps?
You guys are formulating this "more athletic" opinion based on your D4H vision test or something. We can all hope the current group of guys exceed Randolph's productivity level. If you're hanging your hat on them being so much more athletic and therefore they'll by default perform better than you don't have any hard data to support that position. If you do, I'll gladly stand corrected.
