If Missouri beats Arkansas and Miss St beats Ole Miss (and both should easily do so), SEC will have ten bowl eligible teams. I think I remember 9 but have we ever put ten teams in bowls in one year before?

They are appealing and while it’s under appeal they would be allowed to play. However if the appeal is heard once they have been placed and it is not overturned they will be out. Do you think a bowl would take that chance?
I think if Missouri beats Arkansas goes 6-6 and the NCAA overturns the charges that the Independence Bowl will invite them to play 6-6 North Carolina.

Miss St will not beat them easily and I feel Ole Miss will win. Ole Miss has played better than Miss St all year and played some really good teams close (Memphis,Auburn) and showed pretty good vs Alabama and LSU.

Best case, the SEC will have teams for the gang of six bowls. Independence pick after these bowls, so unless one of the SEC bowls declines a SEC team there will not be enough SEC teams bowl eligible for Independence. Don't know if a bowl with a SEC tie-in can decline a SEC team, doubt it however.

Not enough bowl eligible teams to make the Independence and likely not the Birmingham bowl either.

*Assuming LSU, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida go to the CFP/NY6.

12 of the 14 SEC teams went to a bowl game at the end of the 2016 season. That's unusual. But 10 to 11 isn't.

This year could be one of the least SEC-flavoured bowl seasons in recent history. It is possible that as few as 8 of our 14 will go bowling. I don't think we've seen that few in the BCS/CFB era.

There will be 10 Bowl eligible teams thanks to Chatt, ETSU, Sanford, Grambling La Monroe, McNeese St! You see now why AD’s won’t vote to move to 9 Conf games if they did the SEC may only have 6-7 teams out of 14 annually! 🤷‍♂️

Not really, those wins would even out the same for SEC teams, we will almost always have 8-9 teams bowling at worst, even with 9 SEC conference games..

Wrong! Not as many. Take away the 1-2 wins over FCS or lower tier formally Div 1AA schools then us, Ky, Mizzou if approved and Miss St and ole Miss would not even be in consideration!

but UK and mIzzou and Arky and Miss and MSU would be playing an extra game against the likes of each other...you dont think Miss State could reach 6 if they had played Mizzou or Vandy too?

maybe but the 9th game Miss st played could be a Fla or UGA and Mizzou 9th could be LSU or BAMA or Auburn so in some years 9 games would knock some out. Either way 6-6 and possibly 7-5 if a couple those are FCS don’t belong in a bowl!

Here's how I think the SEC affiliated bowls will go

National Championship Game: LSU vs Clemson

Fiesta Bowl: LSU vs Oklahoma

Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs Baylor

Orange Bowl: Alabama vs Virginia Tech

Cotton Bowl: Florida vs Boise State

TaxSlayer Gator Bowl: Tennessee vs Indiana

Outback Bowl: Texas A&M vs Penn State

Citrus Bowl: Auburn vs Michigan

Belk Bowl: Kentucky vs Pitt

Music City Bowl: Mississippi State vs Louisville

Independence Bowl: Missouri vs North Carolina

Yeah someone reminded me Missouri will not be going to a bowl this year, so 9 tops.

You left the Texas and Liberty Bowls out. Both are part of the gang of six and thus pick before Independence. Unless there is some secret agreement, there will not be an SEC team in the Independence Bowl.
