SEC Hoops -- nice start

Great win to kick off the SEC schedule yesterday. For those who didn't get to see the game: Miss St. is a tough team, and this really was a quality win. They had size and it looked, early on, like we would get killed on the boards. Once again, we pulled down some key 'bounds using heart and inside technique. They were shooting the ball well, and Gordon will make 7 digits. Ramar protected the ball well, and Crews just continues to impress. One down note: Chism needs to get a lot tougher down low.

Attendance was a bit disappointing. . . .but good to see Freak in attendance! With PLENTY of tickets available outside for $10-25, there isn't much reason to stay home.

On to Vandy! Go Vols.

I watched part of this game. Lofton must be exhausted, carrying all those guys on his back like that ....

They scared me there for a few minutes.Glad they regrouped and finished the job.

Yeah man, he carried FR Ramar Smith to a 13 point, 7 board, 6 assist evening. Lofton must really be hurting from the 18 points from Crews, or the 1-4 he shot from 3 point land.

Get real.

Guys, seriously, your inside presence is severely lacking. Florida will be extremely motivated for the home-and-home this year. My expectation is that Florida will win both games, combined margin of victory will be more than 40 points.

I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility for the 2nd best team in the east to beat the defending Eastern Division Champs both games this year. But I highly doubt that it will be by a combined 40 points. Tsk tsk LG, you've disappointed me. I would be happy with a split, but Dane "The Gator Killer" Bradshaw may have other plans.

40 points. You are dreaming. I think we split the games but they will be close. We have a nack of getting big men into foul trouble and we are pesky. As for scoring, I have no problem with that. Even though MSU was shoting 62% from the feild (at the half) we were leading them by 7 at halftime. Our D needs to step up by the time we get into the meat of our sec schedule. But 40 points, whatever.

Of course you do. This is why you're opinions are never taken seriously. I expect the games to be split, with an average MOV around 3-5 points.

lawgator - do you even watch basketball? If you do, then you noticed the score in the OK.State, Texas and Memphis games. Surely you would agree that Mario Boggan and Kevin Durrant are pretty good players. TN, Texas and OK.State are all avg more points per game than FL. FL is a great team with team-players, but where did this 20 point margin come from?

You should focus on your team's chances tonight in the NC game rather than making bold predictions against a team that swept you guys last season. No way you guys take two from us this year. I predict two close games in the home and home matchup. With our Vols coming out on top yet again!:rock:

Other than C.J. Watson and Major Wingate, we've got the same scrappy guys who swept UF last year + our talented freshmen.

I'd really be worried about the UF game if Ramar Smith wasn't coming along, but he's really starting to put the pieces together now. Add to that, Crews and Chism in place of Wingate and I think that we're actually better.

UF is a solid team for sure, but they can lose with the best of them. Tennessee obviously has to bring their A game and I think they will.

You would have said the same thing last year... You never know with college hoops...UT should be about 50% on the season, but they aren't.

Well, the games are a month away, I'll give you that. And so we don't know the extent of any possible injuries, which can be important.

But if Florida's starters are helthy, and your starters are healthy, Florida wins going away.

Tennessee is better than last season, Florida is better than last season. Each team has improved at the same rate, IMO. 1 win each, with either team being able to luckbox a road win (like UT did last season).

Going away? I think that UF is going to be tired towards the middle of the second half like every other team the Vols have played this year. When it comes to conditioning, Tennessee has the upper hand.

I am not sure if this has been brought up yet. However, Childress needs to stop shooting three pointers...along with Bradshaw.

Yeah, but we were not at full strength (Horford out, others recovering from mono). You also pointed out to me some time ago that Florida's biggest enemy this year will be complacency and while they put in a lackluster early season effort at FSU, I think that they are probably going to feel the need to prove something in February against both UT and South Carolina.
