That's great but Kansas has guys at 6'9 230 lbs, 6'8 230 lbs, 6'11 245 lbs and 6'8 250 lbs so fine if they don't block a ton of shots but they have big men to plug up the middle we don't have which is my point
Interior defense is not their calling card, athleticism is.

How many true shot blockers are actually left, I may be missing some but I count 2....Oden and Hibbert...

Do you consider Noah and Horford shot blockers?

I'm not saying it is but at least they have bodies to match up with the Noahs, Horfords and Odens of the world. If you think we couldn't use another big man or two you are mistaken. The Vols need help on the interior bottom line.

So sorry for using the term shot blocker, how about just saying another big man would greatly improve our team!

Miss State better hurry up and win something before they get placed on probation for illeagal recruiting practices by their snake salesman of a coach.

Noah counts because he definitely changes the approach of shooters entering the lane and dramatically lowers shooting percentages. Players don't have to block shots to be great defensive paint protectors.

To your point, I'm not worried about our lack of a big time shot blocker next year. Would it be nice? yes. Is it necessary? absolutely not.

Do we need a "shot blocker" for next year maybe not but we do need more big men in the 6'8 and up range. Wingate might not have blocked tons of shots but he made people at least think twice about going into the lane, could alter some shots and played good defense on the other teams big man. We could use him against OSU even if he had zero blocked shots. We will have Chism and Crews or Childress starting. That means we will have one big man coming off the bench. Williams isn't expected to make an immediate impact so I'm not counting him

Isn't Duke Crews supposed to be really good at goaltending and basket interference? If so, he has definitely shown that this year.

There we go ... fixed that for you. :)

In seriousness, I think Crews will continue to develop into a force down low. He's got the athleticism - Pearl and Co just have to tune it.

with many transfers playing in 07-08 the cocks should be better than usual: Devan Downey- freshman all- big east from Cincinatee., Mike Jones- freshman all- big east for Syracuse., Zam Frederick Jr.- freshman all- ACC averaging 12 pts.a game for georgia tech.

:lolabove: all incoming tranfers

yeah, transfers, especially the good ones, typically mesh well and are great team players.

They're transferring for reasons, most of them not good. That, piled on top of Odom's inability to do anything, makes for an ugly result.

Dont hate on the transfers. They should be solid players and they tranfered because they were all born in SC and they want to be closer to their families.

I'm not hating on them, just trying to temper your delusional reliance upon them.

Downey would still be at Cincy if Huggins was there.

Fredrick was having difficulty with the transition to point guard, and he wasn't going to beat out Javaris Crittenton for the starting spot.

:ermm: umm...I hate to burst your bubble, but you've overhyped these transfers a little bit. You can't just throw out false accolades and expect us to believe it...

Mike Jones averaged 6 minutes and 1.9 ppg at Syracuse...he was not "freshman all big east"...:whistling:

Zam Fredrick averaged 1.6 ppg as a freshman at GT...he was not "freshman all ACC"...:whistling:

even if those transfers were as good as hyped, they would struggle as a team under Odom's "leadership"
