They have talked all kinds of crap about Kiffin in the offseason. Now it looks like they are getting a little scared...

These quotes are from Georgia's Rival's board:

“We just better pray that UT doesn't somehow beat UF... IF that happens, and it likely won't, we might be in trouble as far as perception by the media and recruits. That big mouthed hot shot coach will be the talk of the country and suddenly, UT will be back on the map again. I hate UF but we need UF to paste them in a couple of weeks.”
----------------------------------------
“I know UT was playing WKU but they looked really good. Their defense... looked incredible.”
--------------------------------------------------
“Lane beats us, NAIL=COFFIN! Sad but true!”
-------------------------------------------------
“i totally agree, i mean i hate uf with all my heart and soul and want to finnaly shut that bunch up , BUT if UT were to win that train will get out of control, they would make him out the media to be bear Bryant”
--------------------------------------------------
Richt=Fulmer IMO

Had good seasons early on, now the CFB has passed him by.

He's the 4th best coach in the SEC now. Lane Kiffin is going to be better than him soon IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------

These are quotes from Auburn's Rivals board:

Bad news...that is the most crisp I have seen the Vols look in many years. I dont care about the talent level of WVU...UT executed extremely well and built a lot of confidence today.
------------------------------
That better not be penciled in as a "win" by ANYBODY
they are going to get a lot better as the season progresses and they have a lot of young talent down there. Damn missing out on Oku!
-------------------------------
Monte is a helluva coordinator and Orgeron is a helluva D-line coach and it's showing.
--------------------------------
I get it about WKU talent wise, but hoping that UT is anything like they have been the last several years is wishful thinking imo.
--------------------------------
Im not saying they are going to win the east, but as of right now I dont think you can count them out either. They got better as the game went on.
--------------------------------
Mark it down, they are going to surprise this year, and I am hoping we can do the same.
We will see I guess......

Good gathering of info. I would be interested in seeing what other SEC teams are saying as well. I love reading that type of stuff.

Florida St. fan:

Vols. I am not going to lie, I thought yall were going to have an awful season. But I am here to eat my crow, and say that yall are a darkhorse in the SEC. You guys have a talented D and a stable of running backs...if crompton doesnt screw things up; i can see yall having a great season. That is all, go noles

Notre Dame fan:

Props to vols...

I was really hoping they would lose but Kiffin has them ballin'

Some UCLA game prediction's:
Tennessee will house them this year. 20+ point victory- FSU fan

close first half, Tenn. pulls away in the 2nd half wins 31-10- Gator fan

UT should wax ***la 34-10- USC fan

Georgia fans:

Bobo vs. Monty. Monty may just take the week off and do some vacationing. I really don't see how we can win that game since we won't score.
--------------------------------------------
Things aren't right in Athens right now. Bama and UF are so far ahead of us they can't even see us in their rear view mirror. UT has upgraded their staff and Kiffin will be a beast to deal with in the future.

If you're a bettin' man, there is a lot of money to be won on Tennessee this year. That is a welcome change.

It feels really good to hear those comments. Keep it up Kiffin, I'm ready to be back on top.

Enjoyed reading this thread. I'm not a fortune teller, but if we execute as well as we did against WKU on both offense and defense... I think we beat UCLA by several touchdowns at least. We CAN'T lose our 1st string linebackers and our second string will have to play much better than they did against WKU. I think Monte will make some adjustments however to account for the difference in talent that exists when our 1st string LBs need rest. Then again, they may not need it if our running game is successful and hogs the clock.

Still, I believe our Freshman will be a little shocked at how much the talent increases this coming Saturday, and it will affect them in the first half. But not nearly as much as it would if they were on the road. The fact that UCLA is playing here is what I think will keep the first half balanced and put us in the position to run away with it in the second half. Our Freshman will properly adjust in the second half. Our older guys will continue playing 100% and I think Bryce has an incredible second half against UCLA. I think he will probably separate himself from OKU. Something you all may find worth debating/considering and that is I also think that Poole may get a few more carries when that starts to happen.

I haven't seen anybody mention Poole's short performance against WKU, but he looked REALLY good and from what I remember, looked to be a much bigger back. I read that Oku actually thought WKU was good. Now, he may have just been paying the other team respect... but if not, I think he struggles a bit and Poole gets his shot for 3rd string.

The rest of the season? Well, there's a lot these Freshman still have not experienced and I think the biggest shock will be an SEC road/rival game. I think we probably get our butts handed to us in Gainesville. Our Freshman will get BEAT UP and they will be shell shocked in the first half. I read something about Florida overlooking us this year. NOPE. I don't think peopleq realize what's coming.

However, I think if we are fortunate, we very much could adjust a bit in the second half and make up some lost ground to keep the game from becoming a runaways and give us momentum going into the rest of the season. I really hope this game doesn't send us home with a ton of injuries... but instead... stronger, more confident and hungry for more opportunities to win.

If I am wrong here, and we win, then we are looking at a contender for the National Championship as of week three in Lane Kiffin's first year and I just think that is way too far fetched of a thing to consider at this point. Not many stranger things have happened. If we completely crush UCLA... I will entertain that thought with little seriousness. Very little.

But as far as what these people are worried about, I think a couple of them are right about the importance of the Florida game... but again I think it's important even if you go ahead and mark us down for an L. Our performance during that game is huge. I still can't do that 100% though!

Why HUGE? Well, if we get stomped into the dirt... that will hurt our momentum and will leave the rest of the season more in question in my opinion for the fans, the coaches and the players. I believe performances feed off of all that. BUT, if we perform well in that second half of the game ON THE ROAD IN GAINESVILLE, our team will leave that game with their heads held high and still believing they can beat their opponents. They probably will leave wishing for a fifth quarter or already marking 2010 FLA vs TN in Neyland on their calendars. They will be hungrier to win against the opponents they have the remainder of the season. If we remain healthy as well, we will be a very tough team to beat! A good second half in the FLA game and staying healthy gets our team no more than three losses--being @FLA, @ALA and @Ole Miss.

I think we will probably lose all three of those games mainly because they are all on the road. If they were all played at home, I would give UT one of them. We have a much tougher SEC western division schedule this year and that hurts us as far as eastern division rankings, but who cares, FLA is in our division.

If we play UCLA tight and win and get stomped by Florida, then I think a lot of conversation will change and we will be as nervous about us as these people are, but in a different way!

Still, judging on what I just saw on Saturday, I really think our program goes to a BCS bowl next year and we at LEAST play for a NC or play in a controversial BCS bowl game where we have every right to play for the NC (I think we all know that is a fair consideration to point out) in Lane's third or fourth year. Third, again, my prediction on the UCLA game is correct and we have that strong second half in our game against them.

Sorry for any redundancy... I'm tired. Going to bed!

That is what I like to see. Great job on finding all that. I know it took some time but i think it is worth it. We did what we were supposed to do. We executed and bounced back from some early mistakes. Kiffin and Co. think we can and will improve. There is only one way this team is going and that is up. Most of us knew that an attitude change for this team could help out a whole lot. Not to mention the passionate staff. Now I think other teams will pay a little bit more attention to this program from now on. Go Vols!

Quote: Richt = Fulmer...

Amazing, I have been saying this for a year now! With all respect to both coaches, I feel it is right on.

1. Top talent and recruiting classes obscure possible coaching deficiencies.
2. Solid seasons, but has trouble putting it together for a TOP program.
3. Tends to let down when expectations are high, but does better when they are low.
4. High character coaches with discipline issues on team.
5. Took their program higher than their predecessors, but will ultimately be unappreciated as a victim of their own successes and expectations. (to be seen with Richt)

What do you guys think?

I agree but the one difference between the two...Richt won't get a NC.

On an LSU board, they are upset about their shakey win this week so they are petulantly ranking us 7th or 8th in the SEC right now and getting mad at the Bama and FSU fans who are taking up for us, who are putting us @4th in SEC and saying things like:

"For the UT ranking, I just think they have better defense than Arkansas, so that is why they went there and I can see them beating UGA, Carolina, UK, and Auburn. I do not see Arkansas beating all of those teams"

Also some LSU fans whining about us running up score on a lesser team, though they give a free pass to UF for virtually same score against worse team. They are nervous right now and are less confident about Vandy coming to town this week than they thought they would be.

On the ever delusional CatsPause board:

'Iffin Kiffin likes to run the score up on folks, ya'll wait til he meets the Wildcats. We will show'eem how it feels when we run the score up on nim-nare Teers.'

MENSA material...

Florida scored 14, 28, 13, 7 as the game went along. Obviously, they took their foot off the pedal. In fact, Florida drove around like they were in a school zone.

Tennesee went 0, 28, 7, 28.....

Jonathan Crompton, you know, the starter, THREW two TD passes in the 4th quarter.

Tim Tebow didn't even finish the 2nd quarter. So who ran up the score?

I'm not sure what that post has to do with this exact thread. The starters, although some were no longer starters, needed the extra work. If we came off a 12-1 season last year, yeah, I don't think we would see our starters in the 4th Qtr, but after coming off a 5-7 season where we have all new coaches and a new system on both offense and defense, then yes, keep them in as long as possible as they need the experience right now.

New system for everyone. Still learning...still growing. I have no problem with Crompton still being in. He needs the confidence after the mental beating he has taken the last few years. I am not predicting a miraculous season, but you must admit, the intensity and crispness shown Sat. is a MAJOR breath of fresh air for us Vol fans. The thing I enjoyed the most about Sat. was when BB made that long run, came off the field, and Gran was all in his grill. No complacency on the sidelines...room to learn...room to grow. The best is yet to come.

Sorry I should have used quotes. Someone in this thread was "pissed off" because people were talking trash about UT running up the score when the UF game was basically the same score.

But the truth is, UT did run up the score. And Florida didn't. I'm not saying its wrong. Heck, personally I would have loved to see Tebow with 7 total TD's added to his heisman resume, which is basically what would have happend if he played into the 4th.

But he didn't.

I hope CLK runs the score up in every game we play this year. Does that make me a bad person? I've never understood all the drama over running up the score. There's a plus side to everything.

I love running up the score. I'm just saying that UF didn't yesterday and Tennesee did. If UF had run up the score, it would have been 100-3 not 62-3.

Vader, thanks for digging up all those quotes. That really brightened my morning. I REALLY hope Richt stays at Georgia for a long while. I've always though Tennessee has had his number, even when we shouldn't have. Sounds like Georgia has the most to fear/lose this year in the SEC east.

Hard to score a 100 points when the HS team your playing has 18 first downs, 328 total yards and 37:47TOP.
