SEC Expansion

No way are they going to have three teams from Tennessee, Memphis will be blocked by UT and Vandy. We could add Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Florida State and Louisville.

OU And OSU are a package deal.
UF would veto FSU and UK would veto UL.
UVA AND VPI might come as a package deal but they have big ACC exit fees.

In some ways Arkansas and SC still don't feel like SEC teams to me, even though it's been 27 years. When "SEC" pops in my head those 4 teams definitely don't come up first.

But what really gets me is I still don't think of Colorado in the Pac 12, and Nebraska and Maryland in the Big 10, and to a lesser extent Pitt and Syracuse in the ACC. A few weeks back when Maryland upset Syracuse my initial reaction was "Good upset for the ACC"....except it was the exact opposite.
Arky and South Carolina were already in the SEC by the time I started watching college football, so I’ve always been used to them being in the conference. I feel the same way regarding the others you mentioned. I don’t think my mind will ever be able to accept the fact that Maryland is in the Big 10, I was actually looking to see if Clemson played them this year until it struck me.

SEC doesn't need to expand, all that is needed is the P5 conferences to agree to only schedule P5 opponents.

Excuse me? Boren was the one that flip flopped on the decision to add schools.

Remember who encouraged the Big 12 to allow Houston to join?

University of Texas President.

I always find it interesting when someone argues with me by rephrasing exactly what I just said.

10 Conf Games. Play 6 Div games, 1 permanent cross Div opponent, then 3 cross Div games home/away. Every 4 years you have played every SEC opponent. 2 OOC games at school discretion.

I like this idea. IMO, what good does it do to play a team within your conference every 7 years, or so?

Since joining the SEC in '12 and by the time UT plays aTm again, UT will have played: Troy, Ga St., UNCC, and Oklahoma more times than playing aTm.

OU has done better on the field, but Texas runs the conference. If the other schools had a say then the Longhorn Network would be the Big12 network.

Disagree. There has been a subtle shift in power over the last 5 years towards OU.

The LHN did come into existence while Texas was the "hot" team. Which is why four schools left. Afterwards, Texas lost a lot of steam in their "power." Furthermore, they aren't giving up the LHN in order to profit share a network with others.

We need expansion. It's completely unfair we have to play Bama every year in the East. Let others do the same.

Texas has more influence because of money. Being a good team helped, but Texas has always had a ton of money. OU is clearly the better football school at the moment, but their brand still isn't near Texas'.

Brand isn't as important as the power within the Big 12 board. Dave Boren wielded considerable power during his tenure.

Again, he's the main reason they didn't expand before. He got his Big 12 CG like he wanted and didn't see the need to expand since a Big 12 Network wasn't happening.

I admire your confidence. You're wrong, but you are confident. So you're off to a good start.

That'a hilarious.

You don't recall. They beat Auburn in a bowl game Auburn could not have cared less about.
1. Texas hasn't been **** until this year for a decade Oklahoma has been killing it longer in recent years it's just facts. A great wise man once said "Facts don't care about your feelings"
2. UCF is a great team idk how many power ,5 teams they gotta cut stomp to finally get their due but I'd almost out my entire paycheck on it, for when they do get their due then their tops players are hurt or they all sitting out to not get hurt for the NFL.

A&M does, Mizzou does not. Mizzou is not even in the Southeast and doesn't have all that much in common with the Southeast culturally, IMO. It's a midwestern state.

And they also ruined their rivalry with Kansas. Seems like Mizzou would love to have KU as a permanent non-conference game.

If you think success on the field somehow determines who runs a conference, then "facts don't care about your feelings," and you don't care much for facts.

What in the name of God is this sentence supposed to mean?

Dave Boren wanted to add schools. He knew it was necessary for the long term health of the league.

Texas could give a crap about the long term health of the league, so they used the threat of expansion to pry money from ESPN and Fox. That's why Texas was so outwardly in favor of adding Houston. They knew their media partners didn't want a fifth school in Texas.

Oklahoma has been trying for years to get the LHN deal rolled into a standalone conference network. Despite the absolute disaster of the LHN, Texas refuses to deal because their paycheck isn't based on ratings.

The only reason OU has any influence at all is because they are the one remaining school that would have options if they left. So Texas will work with them as long as keeping them happy benefits Texas. But Texas could end the Big XII tomorrow were they so inclined.

I used to think Texas would be a tremendous addition to the SEC, but no more. A&M has them pegged right, a self absorbed bully that doesn't begin to understand the community sense necessary for a viable conference. As for Oklahoma, their program is a leech to Texas albeit a successful one, but still a leech. It has nothing to offer other than football tradition. Otherwise, it is a state with a lot of wide open spaces (no eyeballs).

I didn't want the last 4 additions especially the last 2. I don't want any more teams than we have now. It screws up tradition.
My .02

I am in complete agreement! Never have thought of USCe and Arkansas as SEC teams!

Kick Arkansas, Missouri, USCjr and A&M out.
Go back to the way it was........

Hell of a rivalry....2 traditionally crappy teams having a slapping contest...Makes me laugh that Mizzou was a doormat for its entire history until it came to the SEC and all of a sudden they own teams like Us and Florida....Just amazing
