SEC East Wide Open 2022

Alabama and Georgia are still a level above everyone. Texas A&M is recruiting very well also but not sure about them. After those 3, you could be correct.

Afraid you are all too correct.

The reason? 9-3-1-1-1-(currently#2) Kirby Smart's recruiting rankings in his 6 yrs at UGA.

Been doing a bit of research. (It's what retirement affords you in this life)

Ga is losing 4 starters on offense, Shaffer, Pickens, Salyer and White. Throw in Cook as he was in the rotation. Pickens didn't even contribute much at all. (5 catches in last 4 games) White and Cook get replaced by Branson Robinson and Jordan James. They team up with McIntosh, Milton and Edwards. OL Tate Ratledge returns from injury as does WR Arian Smith. Their returning 3 OL will be joined by experienced OL bench that got reps all season. Don't know who is taking snaps but that doesn't seem to matter to UGA (or CFB experts). The SEC better hope like heck that Caleb Williams doesn't transfer to them. He's not only an outstanding QB, but he stated that he is bringing athletes with him. Throw in their TE Brock Bowers and UGA isn't missing a step on offense next Fall. I wouldn't be surprised if they are better on offense.

Haven't looked too deep into their D yet but the experts have UGA ranked anywhere from 1-3 in the stupid early preseason polls so nobody seems to be worried they won't field a defense worth competing for the SEC again. If you're in the SEC Title picture you're in the CFB PO picture.

My biggest fear is that Georgia isn't afraid of Bama anymore.

If true, who is going to step up and stop these guys? Somebody gotta do it, might as well be us! GBO

Their defense is losing alot, alot but whatever else he may be, Kirby is a good defensive coach and he has good players to work with, albeit less experienced. They will not be as good on defense but will still probably be one of the Top 5 in the conference and will get better as the year goes on and their inexperienced players mature. UGA is going to be hard to beat though the East title is probably all they get next year. And Caleb Williams is going to USC, Georgia and Auburn fans are dreaming about that nonsense.

UT has three very likely losses every season: Florida, Georgia, Alabama.

On the road at LSU. AT South Carolina. A good Kentucky team in Neyland.

Tennessee is not a contender, and will not be until recruiting improves.

Franklin Pierce drank himself through his presidency after losing his son in a campaign trail train wreck, and his apathy and well-founded depression allowed a divided Congress to sow seeds of dissension, division, and discontent that eventually led to the Civil War. He is without a doubt one of the worst presidents in our history. I’ll take your opinion with a grain of salt, Frankie.

Georgia winning the Natty hurts Florida more than anyone.

So far, it seems to have provided a major kick in the ass to the UF administration. UF appears to have finally plunged headfirst into the bells and whistles aspect of recruiting; from big ticket items like the standalone football complex and Taj Mahal living quarters for players, to simple stuff like solving player parking dilemma and upgrading the quality of food and nutrition. And most importantly, Florida is now all-in on the modern day aspects of NIL deals. No more trepidation and apprehension in this area. Although the standalone complex was started before Napier, Napier seems to be the catalyst to all this, he probably would not have taken the UF job without it, and then seeing your arch rival win the National Title only supercharged everything.

Having said all that, Florida’s wins-losses in 2022 will be a big mystery until the games start. UF starts off with what will probably be a top 10 Utah team, followed by Kentucky the following week, so we’ll know fairly quick what kind of team UF has. I don’t expect much this year, probably 7-5 range.

Long term, if the recruiting we’ve seen from Napier and staff after only a month on the job continues, there will be some serious talent being acquired in Gainesville again. Historically, that spells trouble for the rest of the SEC.

Our issue is still recruiting. I think we could "scare" them but we are not at their level. A great comparison point for us would be Ole Miss. They scared Alabama last year and showed potential then had a breakout year this year but still lost 3 games. A 9-4 or 10-3 record would be a big jump for Tennessee but I still don't see us seriously challenging Alabama or Georgia for anything. Florida is the must-win game on our schedule if you ask me.
