Vandy beat Ole Miss
Florida beat LSU
Kentucky beat Mississippi State
Georgia beat Auburn
Missouri beat Arkansas

Alabama beat TN
Texas AM beat TN
Alabama beat Kentucky
South Carolina lost to both west opponents

Yes, Alabama is better than anyone in the east, but also no one in the west or even the country is close to Alabama.

If the west is better than the east, it isn't by much. Glad the gap is finally narrowing. (Even though we lost to both west opponents :-/)

Hmm, could make a valid argument. Auburn and LSU are decent teams with Texas A&M right behind them. I'd say Vandy is better than Ole Miss and Miss st, and maybe even Arkansas.

I think the last couple of weeks have turned the perception upside down. At the the beginning of the year I thought the West was the varsity and the East was the junior varsity.

On the bright side, Tennessee beat all of those East teams listed that beat West teams (aside from Vandy which will take place tomorrow)

Using Lou Holtz logic doesn't that make us national champs?

I believe the West is stronger than the East but it's not as wide as some would hope. Because that doesn't fit the "We still suck so let's burn it all down again and start over one more time" narrative thus it won't get vocalized much by the very vocal minority.

No, the East isn't equal to the West. It is better this year than last, true, but we haven't reestablished balance yet.

9-5, West over East. That's the record so far this year, with the SEC CG still to go.

Even if you took Bama out of that, it would still be 7 to 5. But then, that's not really comparing the West to the East, is it?

Every single team in the West beat at least one team from the East this year. A&M and Bama beat two.

The East can't say that. And sadly, Tennessee is part of the reason why.

So no, we're not there yet. Step up from 2015, but we won't reestablish parity until the line on this chart hits that 50% center line, then bounces around near it at least a few years in a row.

Upsets happen.

Results are the results and that's cool.

I am 100% positive Arkansas is better than Missouri. I am 100% positive LSU is better than Florida. I am 100% positive Auburn is better than Georgia. I am 100% positive Ole Miss is better than Vandy.

Now, you can take from that whatever you want, but I don't look at just one individual game, I look at the whole body of work over the course of a season.

Same thing happened for Florida last year. Florida beat Ole Miss. Actually, Florida kicked the crap out of Ole Miss and I am 100% confident Ole Miss had a better football team.

The issue is all this "im sure" stuff is based on media hype, recruiting class, perception of how good the coach is.
The fact is one the day it mattered:
Mizzu was better than Arkansas
Florida was better than LSU
Georgia was better than Auburn
Vandy was better than Ole Miss

No, that's not the issue. We've seen these teams play. We've seen these teams play over the course of an entire season.

The NCAA basketball tournament is designed to determine a national champion. It does not give the championship to the best team in college basketball. Eli Manning got his first Super Bowl ring when his Giants defeated the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl. There isn't a soul who will tell you the Giants had the better team. They were better that day....as you indicated happened in some of these East-West matchups.

And that's great. Good for all those teams who pulled it off that day.

But, you won't find a soul anywhere who will say Florida is better than LSU. The reason you won't is because they aren't.

And that's not based on hype.

The Giants were the better team.
The Gators were better than LSU.

Need proof? The both won and Eli has a super bowl ring to prove it.

The only measure of two teams is on the field, head to head.

Everything else is simply speculations from fans and talking heads.

Seems to me the other sports get it right. The NCAA football think is what gets us to National Champs...just because. Remember we had people on here a week ago claiming Tennessee could get in the playoff because the "SEC is the best conference without a doubt"....and thats just laughable.

So, for sake of argument, if Florida were to beat Alabama......

Florida would be better than Alabama and Florida would also be the best team in the SEC.
