Lol, well I'm in St Louis (where I went to college) and have several friends who are missouri fans...so I tend to hear/see about a lot of this one way or another.


Ok, good to know. Sounds like he'd be a helpful player to have back if he were able to go before Saturday (though I'd understand not wanting to rush it, especially if it's only a few week injury). Now, was it the left guard that's expected to return later in like November or something?

That's the thought on the other guard, Travis Ruth, who was our starting center last year. Though, I'm not too hopeful. I mean, the kid is fighting a torn tricept. Even if it's "healthy", I can't imagine his upper body strength will be where it needs to be, but what do I know?

Oh and one of my friends was telling me something about the RG backup, Copeland was it? (they've been talking about oline stuff alot...I remember hearing how worried people were getting with the injury bug seemingly chowing down on that line once practice started).

What are people's thoughts/some info on him?

Especially with the easy schedule they have this season,they need to lose as much as possible.

UF is not close to horrible. If TN pulls out the win in two weeks though you will have Negavols saying just that. All you have to do is take a look at thier recruiting classes the past 4 years. UF has talent all over the field. They kept it basic v. BG, and you'll see a better performance against Tex AM, and a 2-0 UF team roll into Knoxville.

I think TN gets the win over the gators and it
will be big.

Yup. Copeland is his name. The kid is a cut-up. He's developing a small cult of fans at Mizzou.

The kid is from Montana. Apparently, his dad went to Mizzou and did a great job of brainwashing the kid to be a Mizzou fan. As Copeland will say, "My entire life I've wanted to go to Mizzou. I've been called to Columbia." It's pretty damn funny.

He turned down a scholarship to play tight end at Montana, then a good D2/IAA school and walked onto Mizzou. He was only 230lbs or so at the time. For the last three years, he's apparently lived in the weight room and has become one of our strongest players... and is a little under 300, I believe.

His teammates love him because he has non-stop energy. He's a big heavy metal fan, and looks the part, as he has long stringy blonde hair and a thick beard. He always is yelling and getting his teammates fired up.

Apparently, duing this spring, the work in the weight room paid off, and he flew up the depth chart past some guys who were highly rated coming out of high school. He was batting Boehm (the frosh) for the left guard spot, and he appeared to be winning. Then, Meiners (our starting right guard) got hurt, and he naturally shifted to right guard and started last night.

IN fact, he had a 93 grade on Saturday night, the highest of all our linemen, so that was very encouraging.

Pretty neat story about a kid working hard, in general.

Forgot to mention that Copeland is also a physics major! So, the kid is no dummy. Another facet to a great story.

Texasjr can kiss my ass for joining the SEC, but I'm glad you guys joined. Welcome to the SEC. Also, I highly doubt Arkansas is worried about playing Mizzou, they have a great team.

In regards to this week's game, I have no idea what to expect. Though, I think it will be a tight game. We have a talented squad. I'm just happy to be catching Jawja early in the year, when they've shown the ability to drop games.

Either way, Columbia will be hopping. The best news we got for this game is kick off will be around 7 p.m. local time. You can bet that it will be a booze fueled crowd. If there's one thing we do that's SEC ready, it's drink! Ha.

I'm not talking this year -- I'm talking about the future.

Arky has tried to purge recruits from Mizzou, and has nabbed a few... but not many. It's always helped that they could play the "SEC" card. Well, not so much anylonger.

There's some real dislike/bordering on hatred between the two. And starting next year, it will get ramped up even more, as they appear to be our next "rival" school.

Just read article about sluggish practice today. I hope the team is not looking at ga st as a push over like ga and fla did this past wk end. Also hope the players are not drinking the koolaid from all the praise from fans and media. We need focus to ready this team for whats ahead Fla,Ga,an unknown Missouri,and Bama. The rest will take care of itself.

Best of luck recruiting against them, hope Mizzou takes their fare share from them. I despise that school. They have rarely been a force in recruiting, and I expect a decent drop-off now that mr fancy pants has been shown the door. Realistically, how soon do you think your team can all out compete in the conference?

It's nice to be back to the fact that the Tennessee/Florida game will determine the East again. The bad thing is that we are not the top two SEC teams.

I'll be in Columbia for the UT-Mizzou game next year or I'll be dead.

It all depends on what you consider "compete." I absolutely think we can finish 4-4 in conference play and win 8 games this year. I really think this is a very good team. And Pinkel has built a very good program with exceptional recruiting pipelines. I'm not saying we'll be competing seriously for East Division championships right away, but we'll be a team that others won't want to play... or take lightly.

I'm curious to see how you guys will adapt to possibly the loss of that Texas pipeline since you won't be playing in the state as regularly anymore

(I'm much less interested to see how it serves to help South Carolina though)

It's UGA's to lose. If you are ranking solely on week one peformances, which probably isn't a great idea, then UT would be next in line, followed by a clusterfock between USCe, Mizzou, and UF.

UGA probably gets it done v. Mizzo, but that will not be an easy win either.

Watching the UF O coordinator during that game speaks volumes on if they "kept it simple". Facial expression said no...not simple enough.
