this isn't over folks. a&m is still coming. this is part of the process.

the sec will not send an invite until a&m declares they are leaving the big 12. when a&m leaves the big 12, the invite will come.

this is going to happen.

I feel like this is to avoid potential lawsuits.

Texas and Beebe are threatening a tortious interference lawsuit from what I've read.

A&M still has the BOR meeting tomorrow.

A&M, Tx, and Ok will join the SEC within 5 yrs.

Am I the only person who actually read that article? It doesn't say that A&M will not ever join the SEC. It sounds to me like they just don't want to do it until they know for sure that they'll have at least a 14th team to add.

I feel like that is very, very likely.

I'm willing to bet that the A&M BoR will be informed (if they need to be) of the steps they will need to take, and will likely vote themselves out of the conference either tomorrow or soon thereafter.

At that point, I imagine the SEC presidents will meet and A&M will be in.

the legal mumbo jumbo is why this is a process. but, what texas is doing is a threat. it doesn't have much teeth.

they are pissed because their longhorn network launches in two weeks and the breakup of the big 12 is not something they wanted to go down when their network is about to launch

I'm betting the issue in Atlanta today was not whether or not to extend an invitation to #13 A&M, but rather, who is going to be #14?. When the #14 question gets resolved, A&M and another team will be joining the SEC.

See what happens when you get so good that nobody can compete with. They probley all got together and said look guys we can't beat them so let go join them so we can beat them during the year. At the end of the year we won't have to play a SEC Team cause we will be one. It's just a cheap way out of a butt kicking that all.

This doesn't look like a deal killer. It protects the SEC's bank from liability, by not interfering with Tam's extant relationships. There's no telling what's really going on...maybe a lot or maybe not. We're talking lawyer stuff.

and it may be that the ncaa squelched their high school broadcast deals.

The only reason the SEC would need to add new teams is if someone in the current membership defects to another conference, IMO.
