SEC bowls so far

Looks like the 4 strongest teams in the conference won with relative ease:

TN, Al, LSU, FL ...and also GA, MissST

Aub has their work cut out for them against OK.

But it does dilute those jabbing the SEC bowl play.

Ark, aTm, and KY chocked though if you ask me. Ark cuz they blew that huge 24-0 lead, not who they played.

Wasnt that a common theme for the hogs this year?

And now the Big 10 East is 0-5 in bowls after that Southern Cal game, which was admittedly a pretty awesome game. 0-for-Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan. It's magical really.

This hasn't been a good SEC bowl season in part because some teams like Vandy, KY and SC had no business in a bowl game; but thanks to the patsies that always make the top big10 teams look better than they are, the SEC is having a better bowl year than the big 10 ... again. Sometimes win loss records just don't mean much but as bragging rights.

Twelve of fourteen SEC teams made bowl games. Some of those teams had losing records. That's why I don't understand when people want to say "Butch took us to a bowl game" to defend criticism of him. Making a bowl game just isn't as prestigious as it used to be.

SEC has gone 6 wins, 6 losses so far, with one game left. If Bama wins the natty, the conference has a winning record in the bowls.

Sorry i never want to see an SEC team lose to someone not in the SEC. Seeing bama beat the brakes of everyone else just makes it sweeter when we knock them off the throne. The SEC is the best and I am proud of that. Not as proud as I am to be from Tennessee but proud all the same. I hate Bama and Florida and UGA, when we play them. It makes me feel a bit better though knowing when we lose to them no one else wins either. If my team is gonna lose I want them to lose to the best and I want them to beat the best.

Maybe its just me, I think anything worth having is worth earning. Life has taught me that learning to be a winner you have to take a few losses. The difference between winners and losers in the end is losers complain and blame others for their shortcomings. They pray for shortcuts and look for saviors. Winners analyze losses and find way to not make the same mistake to get better. Winners bide their time and suck it up. IMO, from what I have seen Butch Jones is a winner. I just hope he has enough time to prove it. Some folks win the lotto (Auburn with Cam Newton) others build dynasties (Bama with Saban and the coaches that built the foundation for him). Butch saw what was in Tennessee and came here we gotta give the man the time to lay the bricks.

When has Butch ever straight out accepted blame for a loss? He tends to come up with excuses. Doesn't that go against your definition of a winner?

i completely agree. The Boston College/Maryland bowl game was exhibit A this year: a pair of teams that made it 2/3 of the way to bowl eligibility on the "strength" of their non conference schedule and had losing conference records. If it's going to mean something, at least make a .500 record in conference a requirement, so an 8 win season for a bowl. You might even see an uptick in conferences playing a nine game schedule to improve SoS to improve their odds of making the playoffs for quality wins. The SEC is guilty too and I'd happily miss out on us beating Iowa a couple years ago if it meant an overall improvement in the relevance of the games.

Two of those"patsies" became bowl eligible by beating us!:eek:lol:

Hm. Michigan only lost by one. Hardly "got the **** kicked out of them'.

I don't care if they lost in quadruple overtime by a point. As long as Harbaugh and Meyer are there and as long as it's either Michigan or Ohio State I'm gonna act like they got their a$$es kicked.

...if you guys would allow it.

I'm not going to let facts keep me from enjoying my emotions.

20 years ago, it would be an accomplishment going to a bowl. now you need to 5-7 and have good students to make it to a bowl game. they should just make a 13th game and call it a bowl game that way everyone can claim to be in a bowl. it's just stupid.

I guess I didn't state that well enough. The bottom of the barrel SEC teams usually have some bite and are capable of inflicting damage - they don't normally lose 8 to 10 games like the big10 patsies do.

Maybe the big10 retained that name because they always have at least four completely unmemorable and unmentionable teams serving as "useful idiots" to boost their top teams in the rankings to better bowl games ... where they lose.

I'll reserve "patsy" for the likes of IL, Rutgers, Purdue, etc rather than Vandy, KY, SC, and MS St. Switch the bottom four SEC and big10 teams and we'd have fewer 4-4 conf teams and they'd have fewer 6-3, 7-2 teams. Just for the record, how many big10 teams had a LB hurdle the opposing center to get to the kicker because I could swear I saw highlights of a Vandy LB doing that.

For the record, though, Vandy had no business in a bowl game (just one of many) - only there because there are too many bowl games and too many slots to fill.

That's actually funny. :birgits_giggle:

I hate Michigan and always have, but I like Harbaugh. He's a good coach.

Meyer I of course can't stand along with the Suckeyes. I will only root for him versus Saban and then only reluctantly.
