True, and they would have lost two in a row at that point. Wish the Cap One could just say right now they are taking UF. Would make ti easier for me to enjoy the SECCG, lol.

Hey Lawgator, does the media love affair with Georgia right now make the gator fans want to puke as much as it does a lot of Tennessee fans?

I really do believe that if Tennessee played them again next week the Vols would win again just as I hate to admit that if Tennessee played Florida next week we would probably lose, just not as bad as earlier in the year. I think Georgia is the 3rd best team in the SEC East right now, regardless of what the voters and media think. Oh yeah, I think Florida would beat Georgia if they played again right now.

We didn't sell our full allotment last year. If we lose to LSU, we won't sell them all this year. Tennessee fans have long since wisened up to the fact that mediocre bowls in lousy Florida cities like Tampa and Orlando aren't worth the trip.

Does that mean any bowl not a BCS bowl is a mediocre bowl in lousy Florida cities like Tampa and Orlando aren't worth the trip? I do not agree with that. I haven’t missed a bowl game in 12 years ( except for the year we did not go) I look forward to any bowl we get, and will again this year.

I am not bothered by the media liking UGA and I don't think you should, either. UGA is on a winning streak. UT is on a winning streak. UF beat the snot out of UT and you beat the snot out of UGA, but the reality is that both UT and UF are in some fashion or another looking up at a team they whalloped. We are looking up at you because you won the SECE. You are looking up at UGA because they turned things around and are on their streak and have looked good enough to get to #4 in the BCS and the polls.

If you are asking me to make sense of the we-beat-you-but-you-beat-them-and-they-beat-us world we live in, can't help you. Just the way it is this year.

I did not realize that UT had left tickets on the table last year. I am surprised by that. Probably would factor into a bowl selection process some.

Thanks for the crack about Orlando. I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that we're a "lousy" town. I realize its not Miami and we have no South Beach scene, but its not like there's nothing to do up here. Heck, you can go catch a Tragic game. They are 11-3 right now. By 1/1, they'll probably be 11-15.

I have come to like Tampa a bit. Some excellent restaurants and there's always Mons.

Yes. Every non BCS bowl the SEC has tie in with, with the possible exception of the Cotton, is a waste of time and money to attend.

I don't care for giant cartoon mice. Hence, I have little interest in Orlando.

I have to agree with you here...except...what makes the Cotton so nice to you...is it the city, playing the Big 12...or maybe the tradition

I could understand the tradition or the Big 12 angle but I've never liked Dallas that much.

i don't mind the georgia dome. and the trip to atlanta is a good experience. but the one time i went was the 30-3 beat-down we recieved from maryland in the 2002 peach bowl. needless to say, i didn't fully enjoy my trip after that....

Neither do I, but in the 12 years I've lived here I've only seen him once. And as I live here I trust that you would defer to me when I say that there's a fairly significant metropolitan area well to the east of WDW that would entertain just about anyone. Even a jaded soul like yourself would find something worthwhile to do, I'm sure.

I never consider it a waste of money to take a trip, especially if the Vols are playing. I am so very sorry you think the way you do. I really am. Wonder why so many fans go to any bowl games if they are all lousy except for the BCS? It’s a wonder they even have them.

I dont know if I would consider it a waste of time to go to a bowl game where tennessee is playing. I would love to be able to go to whatever bowl game we are playing in. I would be a little dissapointed of we fell as far as the chick-fil-a bowl but I would still love to go.

Speaking of cities.. Orlando is not a bad place to be this time of year. Normally the weather is fairly mild and there is a good deal to do besides disney world.

Well, I, for one, will plan on attending the bowl game if it is in New Orleans, Atlanta, or Dallas, or if it is in less probable Orlando, Memphis, or Nashville. I won't be going back to Tampa for the second year in a row, and there is no way on earth I'm going to Shreveport.

If the BCS evolved into an 8 or even 16 team playoff scheme, I wouldn't object to getting rid of the rest of the bowls. Substitute some of them for the semif final and final playoff games and I'm definitely on board.

I actually enjoy watching the bowl games, whether it is two 6-6 teams or two 12-0 teams.

I like the way it is, it can be made to be better...but it could also be alot worse.

Supposing we lose the SEC CG, I think it's crap that we wouldn't play in a New Year's Day bowl game. How in the world can the Eastern Division Champs get passed over by 3 bowls with SEC ties (Cap. One, Outback, and Cotton)??

I know that it would be likely, but I think it would be a travesty. I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't mind a UT-Oklahoma matchup in the Cotton Bowl (if OU loses this weekend).

LG, I have come to the conclusion that Volnation's analysis/take on college football games is probably just as good as if not better than most anyones to be honest. I'm not talking about Jimmy Johnson,Bill Cower(sp),Mike Ditka,Madden etc.,guys that have won superbowls,national championships, and such but as far as some of these guys that I'm not too impressed by, ESPN game crew,etc.,sports illustrated writers, just don't carry much weight with me.Use to but not any longer.

Why does a four loss team have the right to bitch about their bowl slot? If you don't want to end up in a mediocre bowl, don't get hammered by mediocre teams like Cal and Alabama.

Most years I would be silently nodding in agreement with you on this, hat. But in the SEC this year every team has lost to at least one mediocre team somewhere along the way.

As to the original post on that, complaining that UT might be passed over for a 1/1 game by teams that did not win the SECE, I understand your point but the reality is that the system usually rewards a conference championship game winner and penalizes the loser. For the Vols to go to a BCS game, they are going to have to earn it in 60 minutes, just like LSU has to.
